Evgenia Medvedeva

I am but I am on pacific time so it’s 5:45 pm for me 😂

You‘re a lucky one!!

 I am usually more productive in the afternoon/at night, but still I try to be in bed before 1am. Tonight though 1)there's SkateCanada and I can kill some time until the ladies 2) tomorrow is Saturday and I can sleep as much as I want :o:

I quite like nighttime too, but somehow you easily stay awake when you don‘t want to but as soon as you try to not fall asleep you‘re becoming reaaaally tired... why is it always like that? But at least tomorrow is Saturday so I‘ll probably be asleep until lunchtime... :o:

EDIT: I don't want this to be entirely off topic, so.. have you read Averbukh's new interview? I am not a fan of him but I agree with some of his observations on Evgenia. Mostly about her presence on the ice. She really has a different, more mature presence since this new chapter was opened.

I have and I quite liked it. He was honest but he said nice things about Zhenya nevertheless which leads me to think he really believes them. He doesn‘t seem to be quite sure whether this new style is completely suiting her but it‘s his right to be a bit sceptical. Other than that he said some pretty good other things, too. Like the bit about Alina and Zhenya and that people should just cheer them on and enjoy their skating instead of pitting them against each other in some sort of weird political rivalry. They’re both Russians and compete for Russia, let their rivalry be about skating not which country they train it. All in all, while I‘m not a fan of Averbukh‘s personality in general (not wanting to stray to much off-topic so I‘m just saying one word: Yulia) I have to admit that this was a good interview.

I'm also on pacific time... I was rather shocked to realize people on the other side of the world in Europe are staying up to watch skating! And it's a Friday night, I have no responsibilities, which just adds to my anticipation since I have nothing else to worry about.

Well, I‘m glad it wasn’t a complete disaster then. Like Zhenya, Jason probably needs some time for the big changes to take place. And a quad doesn‘t come within a few weeks! I‘m hoping for a good FS, though. Just because he deserves it for working so hard and having to deal with so much. And also for the fact that I want him and Zhenya to marvel at each other‘s medals after the competition and congratulate each other for the hard work that brought them there...

Also: One hour to go until the ladies start. Who‘s with me watching it live, guys? :bed:

I am in. How is the hot chocolate? I'm having tea.

Well, I was shocked as well when I realised I would really be that crazy and stay up as long... It‘s starting in 20 minutes, right?? Please tell me I didn‘t get it wrong somehow and it‘s another hour or I fear I‘ll have to surrender.

Hot chocolate was yummy, actually helped me stay awake. And the binge re-watching of figure skating programs from the last season of course. Tea sounds nice too, but if I‘ll stand up and sneak around the house again, I fear my mom will kill me. I was trying to be quiet but apparently I... didn‘t succeed. Oops.

I barely survived the Olympics. I was following the feed until 4am but I usually fell asleep just before my favourites were about to skate, then I had to get up at 6am for work. :hpull:

It's starting just now!! I'm listening to the introductory announcements on the youtube stream that was posted a few pages back!

Yaaay!! Ok, I‘m dying of nervousness but... it‘s still one group! Good luck Zhenya good luck everyone!! You can do it!!

I am glad she is second to last. Anyone else feel the same way?

Yeah, I'm not mentally ready yet to see her... And she will have an "advantage" knowing about what she will need to score.

All hail the Tsarina! She is coming to retake what is rightfully hers :)

Well, she said she was afraid about the food, that it might be unusual for her bu everything turned out alright. She doesn't like maple syrup, she likes honey. Oh,she is excited about russian flag being finally at TCC. Zhenya's fond of knitting, it brings her calmness. These cute mittens she is making at the moment are a gift. She considers this season as the most unusual one. And she defenitely knows how much negativity she gets. She says it's fine we all have our own opinions.

Thank you for the quick translation! Just a quick correction though- Evgenia does crochet, not knitting. It’s very impressive (I knit but am hopeless at crochet so I think crochet is harder) but wonderful that she has a stress reliever like that.

The men’s event was a little unusual so far but hopefully the ladies event will be good!

I paid $60. Oh well. Does that link have commentating on it. NBC sports does not

It has some Russian commentary. They are pretty quiet during the performances, though, thankfully. I mean, they might become more talkative, but it's good enough for me. After the competition I think I'll want to find no commentary versions to fully enjoy the programs.

Evgenia sighting - dancing and singing by the corner where the skaters wait. She is so beautiful!!! 😍
