Evgenia Medvedeva

2A3T(rippon) is so beautiful. I was wondering if she could still/would still do rippons. Definitely didn't expect her to do one on the 2nd jump of a combo of one of her "worst" jumps. She's full of surprises haha

They are just surface scars. I doubt Zhenya is scared if Eteris team. Zhenyas decision to leave devastated eteri. Zhenyas performance at the Olympics was absolutely stellar she won the silver medal she did not lose the gold. Again her performance was stellar and very clutch. Would she still be at the same level if she stayed with eteri? Probably but we will never know.

A very good long program today could get Zhenya into the top eight. That is doable.
 
I know she won‘t do any rippon jumps in the FS because she didn‘t do it in the first FS practice and this was just additional stuff but my god, look at that 3T(rippon). So beautiful. I miss her rippon jumps. I know, I know, first skate clean, then do that extra stuff but for now I‘m just happy with that only little video showing her with the beauty that 2A-3Trippon was.

Yes we will never know. I have to say I absolutely loved the relationship between them. Never have I seen eteri smile more and in a natural way than with zhenya and that is a fact for me. But would eteri have been able to change her complete training for zhenya? Cause that what she would have needed to do with those injuries zhenya had and still has her previousmethod would have probably made it worse. But as you said we will Never know what would have been better or how it would have been going. The main thing for me as zhenyas fan is that she is happy and healthy. Fo me itdoesnt matter how many times she wins or not as long as she still smiles and is happy

I wish she would do it in the free. I mean what does she have left to loose. She should go all in. She definitely seems on fire so I hope she can pull it off like at sc

Ah sorry. I tried finding a video in case it was for him, and since I didn't, I just assumed. My bad. Though this applies for Zhenya too ^_^

Nice post. Agreed. Zhenya made Eteri to smile a lot.

But have people over reacted her injuries because skaters get injured all the time? Yuzuru Plushenko, Irina Adelina etc.

I'm sure Zhenya is struggling to realize she's not skating nearly at the level she has in previous years. that is causing some of her subpar performances this year. It's hard to believe this brilliant young lady can skate so well in practice even with her new programs and then can't transfer that to live action. It's quite unbelievable to be honest. Hoping it's just a one-season thing and she can be back to normal next season.

You cant compare Evgenia and Yuzuru. Yuzuru gets injured cause he practice new elements (4Lutz, 4Loop (this two for the Olympic season) 4T3A that we know of 4A and 4T4T according to Brian) not because of his normal training.

Unless Evgenia trained quads (which I heard she only tried but never properly train and as you guys said, her layout was the same for seasons) you cant compare how the two got injured.

If anyone needed any further proof that the problem here is 100% a mental block and not bad training\deterioration.

I'd love to see her compete with that layout, get all the deductions for too many combos, repeating jumps etc. and then go back to Canada with a smile on her face and prepare for next season :biggrin: One can dream, at least.

As a fan of both Yuna and Evgenia I couldn’t help but notice the little similarities in these programs and the dresses themselves. Yuna’s program is one of my all time favourites and I can see Evgenia’s Tosca quickly becoming a favourite.
Wishing her all the luck in the world for her free skate. But at this point in the season I think I’m over worrying about her qualifying for Euros or World. Don’t get me wrong I would love to see her at both competitions. But I’m just really happy to watch her packaging and technique change. She looks airy, soft and absolutely beautiful. Just wait, if she can get those jumps landed and keep progressing this way I see her breezing through next season.

However, coming to a Medveda's thread, I should have probably called myself "Kukushka" :-) This February I accidentally saw her on the Europeans gala and she swept me away. That's how I became interested in figure skating and couldn't believe the drama that followed. I was actually trying to sleep and let the gala run on TV because of the music and I thought it would be boring, but EM really woke me up! The presenter announced her as the queen who has lost (got silver) for the first time and she was so emotional - there was beauty, pain, but also huge courage, determination and fighter spirit. So I said to myself, "Ok, this girl hates to lose. I have to see the Olympics now and how she fights!" Now, only 10 months later, I know every female skater and even distinguish the jumps :-) What I am saying is that there is something very special about Evgenia and I really hope to see her regain her confidence.
