Some very vague news on the possibility of Worlds, guys. Mishin just confirmed in an interview that the fed "assured" him that "at least one, or maybe even two of the participants for Europeans are going to be replaced by alternates for Worlds". So... another confirmation that a Worlds spot might really be on the table for Zhenya, but everything's still so mysterious.
 
All of this really makes me wonder... does she know that the fed plans on having test skates right after Euros, if two of the girls don't show convincing results there and that's why she decided to stay put until then? I honestly don't like the mystery... seems like a bit much to prepare for that possibility without a coach. I'd feel much more at ease to see her get back to Toronto right now.

I agree, it's pretty weird. I know Brian is pretty busy at the moment with many competitions of his other skaters but still... there are more coaches at TCC than only him. And I don't get how she possibly could prepare for such an event alone? I thought maybe TAT was with her but apparently she's on holiday at the moment. It just doesn't make any sense. She could be in Toronto, further improving, instead she's in Russia as if she doesn't even have any further competitions this season? I thought it would make sense for her to stay for a few more days and celebrate her mom's birthday with her family and then go back but to stay until Euros... hmm. I try to look at this with logic but I just can't find anything.

The best I can think of is either passport issues or medical check up. But I rlly rlly rlly hope she goes back hopefully by next week!

Maybe a sponsoring thing? It certainly would be weird, though, in the middle of the season... I hope she‘s back soon. :pray:

Maybe they want to know the worlds team right after Europeans and the skate off is then. The ladies free skate is Jan 25 right? I was thinking the Russia Cup Final was the test skate but that ends Feb 23rd and deadline for Worlds is Feb 25. They may want to have the worlds team finalized before then. So going home now may not be worth it because she would have to come back to Russia very soon. She could send videos to Brian and get feedback.

I think what is most fair is to do the Russia Cup Final and make a decision based on those scores.

All guesses.
 
I don't want to overreact if she's going to go back to TCC soon, but I just can't wrap my head around NOT training right now if she plans to compete in a month or so?
 
I want her to go back to TCC, too :pray: hopefully that signature on the CKSA board is a sign that she is leaving for TCC soon. But I think she is training, just not optimally as she is not with her coaches.

Mabye her back needs to have a bit of a rest? And well Brian doesn't really have that much time at this point with javi and kaetlyn prepairing for euros and nationals?
 
update: the instagram comment from the instagram photo about Zhenya training training in russia till euros has been deleted.

Also, I think it's silly that there's not "enough time" for everyone at TCC. I mean yuzu is training there rn, and he only has worlds as of now and Brian is in Korea this week.

What do you think that means?

I agree, I don't think he is spending every session with Javi. Plus there is also Tracy, Spin Specialists and Doug Haw. That is right Brian is in Korea anyway.
 
Is the Korean nationals still ongoing? :eeking: the award for the longest nationals goes to....

Maybe that’s part of the reasons why she’s not in TCC yet?

I don’t think that’s part of the reason. The other competition in Korea was a ranking competition. What is going on now is their actual nationals.

Orser is currently with Jun Hwan at Korean Nationals. Then there's Canada Nationals & Europeans.
 
Why is everyone panicking that she's not at TCC right now? I thought we sort of agreed that this year she should take it easy and now everyone is like "BUT WHAT ABOUT WORLDS!??? DOES SHE NOT WANT TO GO TO WORLDS???". Let the woman manage her time as she pleases, I'm sure she has her reasons to stay in Russia at the moment.
