Recap of Sandra on Evgenia from TSL:
- She completely understood and supported her decision to change from OCS to Tosca. She thought it was important Evgenia control her own voice and destiny, it's her career.
- She came to understand there were just too many changes going on for Zhenya, maybe it was too big of a challenge all at once outside her comfort zone. She says she wishes they had more time before the beginning of the season, and says that Zhenya's fire runs deep, and that's why she's so beloved.
- She originally said Zhenya wanted to change even more beyond OCS, but they pulled her down to that program.
- She says the first dress for OCS was originally to be tuxedo-esque.
- Sandra says she adores Evgenia, she's a sweetheart, and that she has a massive heart.
- She said Evgenia didn't really receive a lot of hate (at least in her mind it seemed) until right at or after Russian test skates. She said the comments and outrage at Zhenya was "evil."
- She says Zhenya is a really open person who wants to learn a lot more.
- She mentions Zhenya had to really dig deep to try and re orient and figure out her technique, and that she (Sandra) secretly thought to herself it would be great if Evgenia could take the year off (she didn't mention this to anyone.) She does mention that she can see a difference in Zhenya's skating skills and that Zhenya at first was wondering why it was so hard for her to get a lot of ice coverage -- it took a lot of effort.

Listening to it right now. It's absolutely lovely, the way Sandra talks about her. You can see how taken she is with Zhenya after working with her for a bit.

You can really see how many people appreciate her. She's a great sport. I'm glad she got that tremendous support at Russian nationals. Hope that helped a lot, and may she have many more competitive seasons ^_^

Anyway, there needs to be some down period after a competition, so if it's that close to CoR, I don't think it's a very good idea.

A few weeks ago when I posted here saying that I'd love her to do a gala piece with Billie Eilish's "Ocean Eyes" song, I thought it was just wishful thinking. Now, I still think it's just wishful thinking, but here I am fangirling over both of them because Zhenya posted a story of how she's excited about a new Billie song and I see that she likes Billie too! Maybe a gala piece from any song then eh
