Evgenia Medvedeva

Jackie's practice notes are up.

She did a 3Lz+3Lo combo in practice. Pretty cool!

He has only two of the four lutzes she did noted as (e). Does that mean the others were fine or just unclear? Or did he just not see them clearly enough? The 3Lz-3Lo is impressive but I‘m pretty worried about the 3S-3Lo. I don‘t think we‘ve seen it cleanly in a run-through yet, have we?

Actually, today's notes made me a bit worried, a lot of Urs. Hopefully, she's just tired today and tomorrow will be fine.

Yeah, me too. I mean, she was clean, though and had only two URs really. The third was in a three triple jump combo. 3S-3Lo-3T.. Still, two URs in the run-through and a step-out. Maybe I‘m overreacting but I‘m worried. Especially the combos just aren’t that secure yet. And the last 3F has been constantly close... Hopefully she‘ll be fine.

Not taking a dig at anyone, but frankly I feel like everyone’s so hyper focused on Evgenia’s 3Lz edge that the other skaters’ 3Lz edges are grossly overlooked. I struggled to see a real deep outside edge during the SP, yet no calls (?), at least not any for the last two groups. And the GOEs they were given :scratch2: I thought, well Evgenia must as well have busted out her beautiful 3Lz-3Lo here! Yet something tells me if she did then she’d be the only one to get called.

Obviously I can’t speak about the practices because we have no videos, but we have all seen other competitions and practices there - my opinion is the same.

Agree with you on that. She is like the only girl with the wrong edge. To me eyes, Elizaveta has the most beautiful Lutz. Her Lutz is really in another league.

Oh, I definitely agree. Literally, the majority of the ladies has not a perfect lutz technique at the moment - either flat or inside. A pure, deep outside edge is very rare. And Zhenya has improved significantly. Her edge is still inside, but it‘s slowly but surely working towards flat. And her jump looks more secure overall, much better flow. It‘s actually become a quite pretty jump, if not for the problem on the edge. But because she‘s so known for her flutz, she will always be called ! even if the edge is as flat as the ones of other skaters. And because there‘s so much focus put on the lutz by the media and herself, too (she really wants to fix it), we as fans tend to be a bit obsessed with it as well.

Eh, there's a reason it's called a practice. Loop didn't look massively under from the video (although admittedly it isn't the clearest view) and that flip could've been a lapse in concentration at the end. TBH, if she produces that tomorrow, I'll still be pretty happy

No new practice outfit, I‘m disappointed, Zhenya!!

Yay for Misha being there. I hope he can choreograph next year for her too. They obviously get along very well, he knows her and can pick programs that fit her skating and personality and it will be a great chance for him as well, to establish his reputation as a top-choreographer. Zhenya is a top skater, this could benefit them both.

Even though I‘d still for her to keep the SP. She has performed it only once internationally and I don‘t think we‘ve seen its full potential yet. Also, it would give her a good start. It would give her more time to focus on new jumps and technique during the off-season if she only had to work on one new program. I would like to see what Misha can come up with for the FS for her.

We have a video? Where? What have I missed?
