The fact that she used her SP costume makes me think she had planned to do something different to meditation but changed plan because of her ankle fatigue and had to improvise the costume

I would have liked to see her skip the gala, to be honest... No need to do that, really.
 
I'm starting to think something is wrong. Her jumps were also a mess at the gala, falling and having two rough landings out of four jumps. Normally, I wouldn't think twice, but this is Evgenia who normally never misses jumps in competition or in gala.
 
I also feel that smth is very wrong from the start of this GP. I dont think she planned Meditation. Something else was planned with different dress but went wrong. I want to forget NHK as a nightmare.
I hope she will be back stronger at GPF.
No way Eteri will release some information but smth is definitely not ok
 
As far back as the Russian test skates, Evgenia has looked fatigued, mainly after the free skate. I've heard all sorts of rumours such as illness, injury or just pressure to be perfect this season. Overall nothing has been a disaster skate from her, but when we are used to seeing essentially error free skates from her, it is glaringly obvious something has changed. I don't think "puberty" is the reason, but she has been off so far, other than Japan Open.

I'm wishing her luck and praying for good health and clean skates here on out. It would be a tragedy to not be at her best for the Olympics.

Yeah, something's obviously not right. I just hope they'll let her rest and that she won't just force herself to train as vigorously as usual, in order to focus on recovery. Most of all I hope she receives a lot of psychological support so that these mistakes don't get to her head and she starts doubting herself.

One thing though - even with an injury (there really seems to be one - her light leg somehow seems stiff on the landings, like never before), she still has superior skating skills to the rest of the field, and the jumps she lands well are gorgeous.

And now I'm feeling really sad :(
I hope she'll be okay and takes a much deserved rest. Hopefully in the next competition she'll be back in her usual form, all I know is that I'll be rooting for her no matter what happens.

Well it was definitely a cursed competition for a lot of skaters, but let's try to stay positive. Zhenya still won and gave a really good performance on her SP and recovered and fought like a champion in her FS.

I hope she focuses on healing and doesn't overdo it in preparation for GPF. You can do it Zhenya! Get better soon!

On a sidenote, I wouldn't have had her jump in her EX, but oh well. I hope it means it's not too worrying of a situation.
