Evgenia Medvedeva

Gorshkov says that Evgenia will participate in the Europeans because she deserved it.

The two additional spots will be for gold and silver medalists at the Nationals.

It's not a surprise. I was sure that even if she WD fron the Nationals, she will be allowed to go to the Europeans but it's still good to get a confirmation from Rus Fed :agree:

Somehow I have a feeling Evgenia and Alina may not compete against one another until the Olympics. We'll see.

And the scores today show why Zhenya wanted to compete so badly; it's easy to see which way the wind is blowing. She is far from stupid, she knew where we were heading. Hopefully she heals well and can step out on that ice during Euros and turn the tide.

She has a good story too, with the injury and all, a returning Queen, so knock on wood, it'll go well for her.

I agree. Nats scores can be a bit inflated, but I really worry what will happen in Korea if Zhenya doesn’t have a convincing win over Alina at Europeans; that PCS cushion Zhenya has is getting very small indeed. Zhenya has to be foot perfect I feel this is the way things are going, if Alina also makes no mistakes.

It would’ve been interesting if Zhenya was at nats and performed as usual, she probably would’ve scored 82 in the sp

If I were to guess, I would say that I think the scores would have been more controlled, and lower, for both Alina and Sotskova. Zhenya being there would have capped them.

Yes, her PCS gap is getting much, much smaller and though I don't think Alina can get this score internationally, it'd still be better if Zhenya can reestablish the 'order' at Europeans.

Yes! Her jumps look back 100%! That's great :) Can anyone translate what she's saying? :D

She says "I'm glad that the Korean audience is waiting for me and that I will have support there.
No matter under which flag we're going to compete, I want to show with my skating what country I am from and I want to show my best skating ever"

OMG! I'm so glad she wants to compete even under the neutral flag! You go girl!! Pyeongchang is waiting for your best skating :cheer:
