Evgenia Medvedeva

" Do you remember my performance of a lifetime? This is the most important award for me. I hope most people think the same way.

I really love this quote of hers. I’m very upset for her that she came so close to the OGM and didn’t quite get it, but this is a lovely way to think of her performance. I truly believe hers is the skate people will remember. She had a fire in her belly today, she was amazing.

"These are tears of a splash of emotion. Probably, I kept a lot of things in myself and I can not exactly determine what kind of emotions. Just the cup overflowed. Do you remember my performance of a lifetime? This is the most important award for me. I hope most people think the same way.

I always sensibly assess the situation. I will not retell our dialogue with Alina, this is too intimate a conversation. Alina worked as many, many, many people to achieve this medal. I saw it day in and day out.

I have plans for the next Olympics, of course. I love this sport, I'm not going to leave it. I will try to enjoy such moments and invest the whole soul, "- said Medvedeva on the air of the TV channel" Match TV ".

What a teammate! What a leader! If she was not a friend to Alina and treated her badly over the years maybe Alina would have been intimidated by her and Zhenya could have used that to her advantage. But she did not and she is a great person. Perhaps that is most important even moreso than sports.

Yulia Lipnitskaya posted a story on her IG with encouragement to Zhenya, captioning it "hold on" (as in 'be strong'). Considering those two didn't use to have the best of relationships, I think it's a huge compliment to Evgenia!

What? Why didn't they have a good relationship? Zhenya is so easy to get along with.

She is a wonderful role model for this sport. Incredible hard worker always worked to improve but classy win or lose.

Poor baby..I know she enjoys Japan but I think it's maybe too much right now for her. She just lost the gold and now should deal with all the media around her instead of getting her peace. Even though she's not on the top, she stills get the most media attention compared to Alina after the competition. People will remember these Olympics as the ones where Evgenia Medvedeva lost the gold and not really where Alina Zagitova won it. :sad21:

Idk what you guys think but I prefer her fp at Euro...on sp I prefer the one at team event. Actually her performances at individual events are a little stiffer/rushed in my opinion, doesn't mean it's not amazing tho.
I need different camera works, the one i got is awful, they show her back more than half of the time. If some one has japan tv/bbc/nbc/etc version, can you pls link me :sad21:, thanks!

This might sound cheesy. I feel like I have been making a lot of posts like that lately. Maybe I will make this my last one for a bit, but I just wanted to say to someone who mentioned it here: I am guessing that Evgenia does read this thread. She reads social media, this is one of the biggest forums on figure skating, and this is her fan thread. So I am thinking she probably does read it. And I am also guessing that all of your comments here are probably like greeting cards and flowers to her. She won two medals in these olympics and, MOST IMPORTANTLY, her performances (especially her FS, and we have yet to see her gala/ex) reached you and to paraphrase the quote of hers posted here: "You will remember it." :) She reached the entire world, people who never saw her skating before now just experienced her talents and ability to perform. Guys, I really just look forward to the stories she will tell us next on ice. Her future programs. The new journeys she will take us on with her performances. She is the mangaka (漫画家) of figure skating. The Tsarina mangaka. :)

Yes my view on tv often was too far zoomed out and didn’t show her nuanced movements or expressions. And often her skating away from the camera rather than towards it. Hopefully the nbc version will be posted soon, as they often have a different angle.

Thank you so much

https://www.instagram.com/p/BfiiHjTlrOH/ Zhenya was on a Japanese TV show with her medals! Too bad I don't speak Japanese or Russian :D

https://twitter.com/twitter/statuses/967017982969786369 LOL they showed Zhenya's grandma and her reaction + interview after Zhenya's skate!

Please could someone translate what they asked her or her replies if they have time? :)

Zhenya's success and wonderfulness began before these games and it will continue after it, and we'll be supporting her all the way. As they're playing about with the scoring system, I really hope the changes encourage her to stay in the sport because no one can match her artistry or performance. Our girl is a fighter to the end, she showed that today, and she'll continue to show that heading onto more exciting things!

I never expected to feel so crushed for Zhenya, even when the writing was on the wall that Zagitova was more than likely going to overtake her for the OGM. Evgenia has never been one of my favorite skaters on a technical level, but it's so clear that she's such a lovely and hard-working person who is deeply moved by her sport, her artistry, and the support she receives from her fans.

She's such a wonderful sport, and I'm sure she's happy for Alina, even if she is a bit disappointed not to be walking away with gold. I myself have been quite moved by her good nature and humility after falling behind Zagitova. She ought to be very proud of herself, regardless of what happened on the ice (which was nothing scoff at at all).

I believe people will remember it as Olympics where Evgenia poured her heart and soul on the ice and despite not the best season she won silver (not "lost gold" but "won silver"). Also seeing her crying reminded me about how much pressure she probably felt while stepping on the ice  It had to be moment of great relief for her
