Evgenia Medvedeva

no, you have no problem with hearing:) but i do not know why...maybe the technic.

I don't know but maybe she cried? :scratch2: she talked about crying

It's similar in many countries in Europe, in my country sport clubs for children and young people are funded by state or municipality, kids (I mean parents) pay only some membership fees, till they start to do it as professionals. However there is still some state sponsorship for atheles representing internationally. Or at least it was that way,at least in my country public support of children sport is decreasing (one of the reasons why our ice hockey is not what it was :( ). The other way of sport supporting is the army, many of our athletes are officially soldiers (although some of them see uniform like once per year :) ).

According to wikipedia Carolina Kostner, Anna Cappellini, Luca Lanotte work in the police. So it is popular in Europe. It is hard to be an athlete who compete in less popular sport. Maybe skaters should be allowed to have ads on their costume. Zhenya pantene ;) I ate today extra portion of honey in Zhenya's honour(her surname means honey eater, she is that sweet)

Most Olympic athletes in Italy are 'part' of the police, but they don't actually do any work for them, their job is doing sports :)

I liked when Roman Šebrle, our renowned decathlonist, once said: "I once realized I'm an army captain." (and shortly after that he was promoted to major)

In Poland majority of athletes used to be members of police or military sport clubs to get funding. Those whi were successful received support from state after retirement. Some after giving up sport left the service but some stayed to do some administrative job within army or police

As ejnsofi had written before me, there is still support after retirement. Šebrle is still army officer even though he is retired. I don't know if he now has some service duties but he was seen more often wearing uniform publicly since retirement :)

I'm not crying... It's just raindrops falling down on my face

Recently my colleague got involved in figure skating (thank you Olys) and I made her watch Evgenia Medvedeva marathon. It made me realise how much our girl improved over the years. I used to think that W.E. was her the best program but now I see how much more superior Anna Karenina is in terms of emoting and emotional involvement. It isn't just choreo that Zhenya performs - she LIVES it. And her step sequence so soft and so effortless looking. Even step amateur like me had no problem with recognising the elements thanks to clear edges. Also I believe that Evgenia will prove wrong people who wishfully think it's beginning of her end. She still so far hasn't been beaten by skater who isn't from Russia and she seems determined to improve her tech content. I'm heartbroken she won't be in Milan but I'm glad she thinks about her health first and I expect her to gave great come back next season (and maybe she will get new choreographer)

comment to the press:

"Voted for the first time quite calmly, as I voted in my own school" Sambo-70. "I have not been here for a long time, but with this place I have good memories. This is the responsibility for me - the first vote in life, the unusual feelings , but I'm glad that it happened in my native school, "said the 18-year-old sportswoman.

Okay but for real, Zhenya is looking so good! I love the hair+glasses combo :)

Isn't it kinda creepy that people know where she lives? Surprising someone at the practice rink is one thing but at her apartment?

She is amazing. Zhenya does the right thing as usual.

I wonder if she voted for Putin. Hmmm.

But did her coach Eteri and teammate Alina also vote? ;)
