Evgenia Medvedeva

Sorry for posting 3x in such a short time haha but the illusion entry into camel spin - has she done that before? It looks really cool I think.

Yes, she has. IMO her leg during the illusion spin is better. I noticed right away cause I watch a lot of gymnastics and they do it there.

She did a great job! She is a tough girl!

I wonder what Zhenya thought of it? She seems kind of pensive at the end getting off the ice?

It's a program with breathing room, yeah. Zhenya has the artistry and musicality to make simpler movements between elements interesting, though. So it's just less cramped, but still as or more enjoyable to watch :)

Do you think the transitions are simpler too? I guess I am worried that since she doesn't have as many transitions and/or complicated transitions she will get less points? I may not be choosing my words right.

Yes but as you see - the controlled gain of some weight/muscle has its positive effects.

She does a change of foot after the illusion in that program though - I don't remember ever seeing her do the illusion and camel on the same foot. Maybe I just forgot and I'm excited for no reason :) In any case, I agree she definitely looks more in control! She's been improving so fast since going to Orser, I'm really happy for her.

This is such a lovely program! I just hope that she will extend her body more when she does some postures. and some beats have weak/non-obvious movements associated with it. But maybe those will get fixed once she is more familiar with the program. :)

I was thinking the same thing...

Evgenia's short program is magnificent. I am not a huge jazz fan and I love it. This program is only going to get better and better!!! She is the only skater that had to travel for test skates. She had more to prove than any other skater and she delivered. I think only Russian nationals will be harder for than this skate. She is such a fighter.

I really liked Zhenya's sp

The biggest surprise to me was to see the lutz as a solo jump, I think this is even more riskier for her than backloading the combo . But it really shows her determination to fix it.

But what happened to the layback spin? Do you think she doesn't do it due to her back issues and she will include it later in the season?

Orser & Co. operating miracles! [emoji23]

I enjoyed this SP more than anything she has ever done before.
What a fun performance! This really suits her, she has that beautiful smile and so much charisma! Why not use it?
And I thought her skating looked smoother and more in control. The choreography is clean, not the usual huge amount of steps and turns and moves the whole time. This is more simple, but simplicity is not a flaw. This feels more finished and well executed.

I loooove the new look! And the shiny rose blades!!! I wonder how her dress will be... I want to see something girly and fun!
Also, is it just me or she has gained more muscles??

About the 2A, I didn’t see much improvement... Someone needs to make a side by side comparison video. I’d make it if my internet connection wasn’t so bad atm. [emoji23]

I can’t wait to see this is competition!!! ❤️

She's not skating a simple program - not having the unbelievable amount of transitions she had before allows her more speed and flow, it's a choice of style :) I don't mind transition packed programs but when it's too much they start not to make sense with the music and they look like they're just there to add difficulty. Btw, she definitely won't get penalized in transitions for this program.

no biellmann and no hair cutter spin. is it bc of her back? :(

Probably, I think.

they will add the transitions :) at least I hope so. Brian said before that he prefers adding transitions during the season because skaters need to gain stamina and get used to their programs.

Guys, don't forget that the big amount of transitions is a trade mark for team Tutberidze. It's normal that it feels less, Orser team and also almost all other international coaches doesn't overload their skaters' programs. Still, Zhenya's new SP didn't feel empty for me.

I really liked her SP and look forward to seeing her perform it in full costume. I loved her footwork in it and the "personality" of the skate. She gave a taste of the full performance (meaning of the "character" of the piece) in the SP too. Sort of like a dress rehearsal. I think she is having fun with this one which is nice to see as well. As for any possible transitions, additional changes, etc... I just go with what other people like Yoa said here. There is plenty of time to tweak. This is just the "first draft" of the manuscript she is preparing to publish for us when her season begins. I am sure Orser/Wilson are keeping tabs of what needs to be done if anything when the season begins and as it progresses.

I agree. Orser said the jumps and the choreo can change throughout the season. This is just the first draft. They will probably add more transitions throughout the season to make the routine perfect.

Her SP only seems empty in comparison to her other programs which were usually packed as hell. I like this better. You get the time to completely get what she's trying to do with her program. and as others have said her team will work on adding more if needed. I think she sells the program well enough to not need more transitions.
