Judging by Opera’s instastories she watched Tchaikovsky’s Eugene Onegin
 
At skate America last night, weir and lipinski commented how Tennel beat Janny at an event this season already. I wanted to tell them: “Janny was still just testing her programs then. Tennel didn’t receive the full Janny Style treatment!” :)

I anticipated this and actually turned off the volume once I saw that they were going to talk about Bradie. They had to say it, of course, but I did not have to listen to it :noshake:.

Although, I note that Johnny Weir has always been friendly and supportive of Evgenia. He even once said before that if he had a daughter he would like his daughter to skate like Evgenia. There's a lot of love between those two, I think.

We will see Evgenia skate again! The countdown is on! :hap10:

Johnny is very supportive of Evgenia, so no hard feelings there. And Zhenya was really nice to Bradie after her win, congratulating her in her warm, usually classy Zhenya style.

I hope we‘re getting to see the whole Janny treatment (lol so many nicknames) next week at SCI. :clap:

About Bradie: Considering how she did in the SP at SA I‘m not sure beating Evgenia has actually helped her. Sure, it must have been a boost to her confidence - beating the two time World Champion and Olympic Silver Medallist - and she can be really proud but now everyone has those huge expectations on her. I guess that‘s a huge pressure put on her, being basically America‘s only real medal hope.
 
I think what happened at ACI was that Bradie was well prepared for the competition, and kudos to her for skating well, but at least part of it was that Zhenya was very obviously not in top form. Which happens, as Brian says, it was 'the first pancake'! I expect Zhenya to be a much tougher opponent at Skate Canada.
 
Is it just me or does Sofia Samodurova‘s FS dress look a bit similar to the snippet of the dress Evgenia posted a few weeks ago/months ago on her insta story?

The bottom of Sofia’s dress is more like fringe, whereas the dress Evgenia posted had longer and wider sparkly strips of fabric. I couldn’t find a copy of the instastory of the bottom of the dress but I’m sure it’s out there somewhere. The V sparkle pattern is similar but many dresses also have this sparkle pattern.

The one thing I would change about Sofia’s dress is the white parts in front. Why Mishin/her designer thought it would be a good idea to have a floppy white piece of fabric draw attention to her crotch I don’t know but once I noticed it I couldn’t unnotice it.

To bring this back to Evgenia I actually do hope that her new SP dress gives us some sparkle like Sofia’s FS dress does.

Oh no, that’s her (now used as) exhibition dress from the original January Stars program, isn‘t it?

I meant the purple one, she only had parts of it on her insta story. I didn‘t mean this negatively or anything, I just saw Sofia‘s dress and thought of Evgenia. Maybe it‘s just me and the dresses are totally different. :laugh: The fringe actually IS totally different but I don‘t know the purple and the one piece of fabric looked a bit similar from what I remembered.

Such pieces aren‘t exactly uncommon. Even Sasha - who‘s costume I really like from the colour scheme since it‘s unusual - has that floppy piece hanging around that area. I just don‘t know why designers do that. It just looks weird and distracts from the real look of the dress.

I‘m pretty excited for Zhenya‘s new costumes and looking forward to what she‘s going to show us. I actually liked her SP dress but it wasn‘t “special enough“, so maybe a bit more sass and sparkle could be a good idea. Let’s wait and see. ;)
 
Costumes with floppy pieces at the crotch are so distracting. A tiny little piece of fabric just hanging down there can ruin what could have been good costume for me.

I am psyched about Zhenyas new dreases

BTW today I rewatched her January stars program and while I wasn't the biggest fan of concept or repetitive choreo I must admit that I finally got on board of "Love for January stars" train :laugh: I didn't get the hype at the beginning but now I see how beautiful that dress was.

I‘m jealous, too. :laugh: But I‘m happy Zhenya has some Goldenskate supporters there. You have to cheer your throats sore for her, guys!! (Just kidding... well, maybe not. :biggrin: ) I‘m trying not to be excited for SCI and literally expect nothing so that Zhenya and the others can surprise me but it‘s hard... I‘m already so hyped.

I‘ve jumped on that train a long, long time ago. That dress is my favourite of her dresses! And I actually also loved the program and wished it would have been developed further... :luv17:
