Challenger scores are usually over-scored because they were trying out the new system.
The scores at ACI were definitely not overscored. The judges were very strict. Stricter than at Nebelhorn etc.

I will be performing a 55 minute long piano concert today at the same time as the ladies free skate event. Therefore I will not be able to watch Zhenya through the livestream. Oh well.
Afterwards, I’ll probably report to the skate Canada website for the results. While I love golden skate, I might need a few moments to process the scores and placements by myself
Anyways, I’m sure that Zhenya will do great! Quick question- has it been confirmed that Zhenya will be wearing a new dress for her tango program? If so, that’s exciting!
Good luck with your performance!! Well, yesterday in this TV clip done by russian media they were talking about 2 new dresses for Skate Canada.
ACI hasn't been around long, but it has a reputation for having a tough tech panel.Stricter than any challenger I've ever watched.

The TCC skaters and coaching team seem to look to ACI for the feedback more than the placements.
At the other end, at 45, Skate Canada International is the oldest of all the GP events, having started in 1973. It's had a tough technical judging reputation for many years.
At the time it was created, SCI was part of Canada's sports outreach / detente to the Soviet countries, trying to bring top Eastern European and North American skaters together for something other than Worlds.
To have Zhenya, training in Canada and facing off against another Russian World Champion here at SCI is a testament of how far things have come.
The Challengers seem to be a bit of a mixed bag. I've been watching skating a long time, but it's only with streaming that we get a sense of what's going on.Thank you for the history. I have only been watching challengers for 3 years.
