Loved the axel!
Also- Has Zhenya been struggling with the flip recently? I don’t know if it’s the nerves or back issues that are getting to her... hopefully she will be incredible tomorrow!!

When you're reworking technique on a similar toe jump like the lutz as well as changing the toe pick technique, inevitably other toe jumps like the flip will be affected. Regardless I doubt it will be a long-term issue.

I think the problem is that it is the last jump they should put it in the front.

That 2A was something I wanted to point at too. I admit improvement here definitely.

How on Earth did she get CCoSpV AGAIN?
I'm not too familiar with this sign, but I can't be due to fewer revolutions than needed for each position

I think Med in a downward spiral and struggling to accept that she can no longer take 1st for granted.

I thought she'd at least try to SELL the program. It should've been easy to top the SP ranks for her today.

The CCoSp3V is because Zhenya did not hold her camel spin position for 3 revolutions after the change of foot (I believe). When I was watching it was clearly way too fast, she might have only done 1.5 revolutions.

I really think she should change her short program. It's clearly uncomfortable for her, especially when nervous. It may be controversial but bring back nocturne and perhaps play around the choreography.

Because at Russian National 67 won't be third, it will be around 10th.

They should move the combo as the first jumping pass. The risk to have it last doesn't pay of. It only adds pressure on her.
I thought they would do so after Skate Canada.

Good thing: with Konstantinova down at 10th, less competition for the GPF spot.
Bad thing: Her back is still not 100% and that is showing with the spins T_T

I think so too. None of the other skaters has their combo at the end. It is too risky

I don t think it is about the program, but about the jumps and spins. If she doesn t feel comfortable with the jumps obviously she cannot perform well cause she will focus mainly to achieve the tech part.

It would be safer, but I still wouldn't be comfortable with the Lutz on the 2nd half. Maybe a 3Lo?

Honestly I agree it might benefit her to change it. Maybe after she's stabilized she can come back to Orange Colored Sky. But I don't think she'd want to bring back Nocturne.

Well, now to fight for silver and to have at least 213 is a reality, unless Rika and Mai collapse.
The overall competition was full of failed jumps and literally no one showed their best performance, so anything can happen.
-------

In the past competition I said that the SP still did not convince me (choreography, music), and now I have just confirmed that I don't like it. There is still time to change it, at least for the next competitions. Or at least change the elements, its impossible to apply a REP with the 3-3 in the second half, maybe it should be changed to the first for security.

Her FS, on the other hand, I like it a lot and still has more possibilities of development both in interpretation and in technical elements.

Do not give up Evgenia, there is still hope!:hap10:

I 100% agree. Bring back nocturne or just choose another classical music choice if she doesn’t make the GPF.
