I hope Evgenia listens to herself and not the random internet trolls. I’d like to see the majority of her critics go out and skate a triple... then they can talk.
Change is hard and it takes time. I think her goals for the season were lofty but there were a lot of challenges. Moving to a new country, getting used to a new environment, getting over injury, growing. Even one of those things is a challenge let alone all of them. A team needs to be together longer than 6 months before you expect results. Evgenia is struggling with confidence right now- we know she can go out and do the jumps.
Failure can be a great motivator and in the long run I think this experience could turn out to be good for her. The best don’t not fail- they take disappointment and use it to become stronger. By not making GPF Evgenia has time to go back and do some solid work before her next competition, that isn’t a bad thing. I think it could even be good for her- by the time her next competition comes I think she’ll be hungry.
As a final note- her LP has really grown on me. I like intense Evgenia. I think the program suits her the more she performs it.
Don’t give up Zhenya! Your real fans still love you and any respectable figure skating fan respects what you are trying to do even if they don’t agree with it. You can do it!
You can send a letter to TCC. I don't think you can contant Zhenya on her social media. I hope she will stay off them at least until RusNats, I can't even imagine how many hate comment is she going to get in the next few days.Is there any way to contact her?

Re Brian (I follow the TCC skaters more than others): with his other skaters he give them a moment for themselves to think about what happened and kinda like reflect for themselves for a while and doesn't speak a lot in case it can trigger more tears. I mean, if the skater seems ok he says one or two things, but if, like Evgenia they seem close to tears, he says even less.
In an interview he said at first its hard cause he needs to discover how the dynamic with the skater will work. I will give them a while, it took Yuzuru and Brian a while too and now they are close, and Yuzuru is/was less open than Evgenia.

We just want to see you laugh and smile again, Zhenya! Take some rest, drink lots of hot chocolate (it helps against lovesickness but I‘m sure it will also help with this special kind of heartbreak you’re facing right now), take a walk in nature, talk to your mom, hug your grandma, read a book, sleep, knit clothes for your sweet little pet. I know you want to go back to training immediately and that‘s okay, you‘re a perfectionist after all. But maybe just take a day to refocus, shut everything out and just focus on YOURSELF. You need it.
Honestly, you want to be perfect all the time but that‘s the sad truth - you won‘t. It‘s life. You are on the ground at the moment. Now it‘s time to lie there for a short while and cry because even strong people are allowed to cry and be sad and frustrated. Maybe talk to Brian again like you did after SCI SP. And then you will get up again. I won‘t say: “Don‘t be too sad“ because you have every right to be so. But as much as it doesn‘t look like it right now, it will be a learning experience. You just have to believe in yourself and your abilities. You‘re not skating for anyone else, you‘re skating for yourself. Don‘t listen to what some people say to you, it‘s nonsense and spiteful. And please note that there are many people who always support you. Your fans aren‘t going anywhere. Who would we go to? There is only one Zhenya Medvedeva in this world who is just like YOU. We like you because you‘re yourself. This isn‘t going to ever change. So, just go out there and do what you love and believe in yourself. You have it in you. Don‘t let anyone ever make you doubt yourself again.

You guys, I don’t post in here a lot but I love Evgeniya. Today was a nightmare for her - I don’t think she ever recovered after that first awful fall. But she has amazing courage and a wonderful spirit. She took a huge step in moving to TCC. I think she will thrive there - is thriving there already - but what she’s doing isn’t easy and her progression isn’t always going to be straight forward. So just be patient.
One of the reasons I wanted to write in here is because I’m a huge Jason fan. Last year when he totally bombed US Nationals and failed to make the US Olympic Team as everyone expected him to, he was so depressed that he considered quitting. Instead he called Brian to ask about working with him. Back then, last January, Brian wasn’t sure he’d have room. But last spring after it was announced that Zhenya was going to Brian, Jason went to TCC for a tryout and was invited to train there. Well, he got there and he struggled. It seemed like a continuation of last season. He bombed his FS at Autumn Classic, and was 10th in the SP at Skate Canada (he finished 6th overall). He had never had such low placements. He kept falling out of jumps and under rotating them. He didn’t look so great.
But then yesterday something clicked and he was able to do a brilliant short program. I don’t know how many of you guys follow Men’s, but what Jason did yesterday was extraordinary. Not only was his skating beautiful, but his score was the highest score ever recorded for a quadless SP. Today he wasn’t quite as brilliant, but he held it together enough to get a silver medal. There is still plenty of work left to do, but after all his struggles, there is light.
Why am I talking about him here? Because I think he and Zhenya are alike in many ways. They’re both amazingly talented and intelligent athletes who are striving to make fundamental changes technically. I think Zhenya will succeed, but perhaps not as quickly as fans would like. Be patient. She will get there.
