Evgenia Medvedeva

I'd be more inclined to believe that one's an update for Alina since it's so similar to the Carmen dress.

The original Instagram post says that she is posting this with the delay on purpose, so that the owner can skate and show the dress first. And then there is a comment by almigranova79 saying that the dress is theirs (presumably her daughter’s, Alsu Migranova) and she thanks Olga for it :) There are some more comments saying that even when the dresses have similar colors, they still have unique personalities to them.
So the dress belongs neither to Zhenya nor to Alina :)

I don’t think that’s Alina’s dress. The entire bodice and sleeves are black lace, without any red embellishments. If that’s for Zagitova, it’s less of an update to her current dress and more an entirely new one.

Doesn’t mean that it’s Medvedeva’s, but the odds of it being Med’s are higher than of it being Zagitova’s in my opinion.

Olga's been posting a lot of new dresses, and there are multiple that are red. I really hope one of them is Zhenya's! I love her work and her costumes always complete Zhenya's programs and make them even more unique in my opinion.

Did anyone watch the full practice? She fell on her 3F3T in the runthru. Did she have problems with it during the rest of the practice?

It did not look like such a big problem - I think it was just v underrotated so she fell when she landed on the ice. The rest looked good. Hopefully everything goes well later.

Also, I hope she is able to rest between now and the competition - back in Toronto, she would have been in dreamland at this time....

No, everything else was fine. You could literally read Brian’s lips how he said “Sharper” along with the gestures while talking to Zhenya after the runthru. After that Zhenya repeated the combo a couple of times, and Brian seemed satisfied. She also practiced the spins after the combo, and finished with the choreo.
They seemed concentrated, but quite in a good mood.

Indeed it didn't look like a huge problem. The 3F was fine but she didn't get enough height (or distance) on the 3T. Hopefully she did other clean ones in practice. Most of all, sending her some good energy for the competition... May she do whatever she needs before now and then to have a good SP

I could also make out (I cannot believe I am venturing into lipreading now) that Brian told Evgenia when they huddled after the runthrough something like do no slow down/do not wait, jump then made the successive hand gestures

Happy to hear that, thank you!!

I was thinking that as well! He definitely made a point about the arms.
I was thinking about that for quite some time. Since they try to shift the main jumping force from arms (as she used to have) to the legs, she may still use the arms too much unconsciously and thus offsetting the balance, which can also result in a fall.

Ok, I think it’s time to have a good sleep before tomorrow’ SP!
I have my fingers crossed and hope for a clean skate

I don't know why the fall makes me feel calm for the real thing, but isn't there a saying that if something goes wrong in the final practice it will go great at the real deal?

I don’t think practices are a great indication of how a program will go unless you’re an ice dancer. Good practices just inspire confidence. But Evgenia had amazing practices in France...

I’m not trying to be negative btw, I just try not take much stock into practices as an indication of performance. I know Frank Carroll used to demand full run through at practice so that was a better way to tell whether the skaters were ready. I don’t think even Eteri does that though. It just comes down to putting everything together during competition day. I think Evgenia will manage to do that and fight!

I won't be able to watch her SP live, as it is almost midnight where I live (California) and the ladies begin skating in a few hours.

I wish Zhenya the best of luck and I look forward to checking the results when I wake up!

Anyone know how to watch live? I think it isn't allowed to post VPN converters (the one in the Russian ladies thread was deleted as it seems) but if anyone has a link and would be kind enough to send it to me per PM I'd really appreciate it. :)
