Evgenia Medvedeva

Zhenya just did an Instagram broadcast. She spoke in Russian only She seemed to be holding back tears or maybe crying. I hope someone captured it on video and can translate it.

I saw a very small peace, she was crying and she thanked everyone for the support.

I think the almost crying was more that she seems to be moved by the support she got. Since I don't know a word of Russian I don't know what she said. But from what I heard she thanked her fans for the huge support. She wasn't crying as far as I can see

Evgenia is doing a live stream on her Instagram right now!

I don’t understand what she’s saying but I’m still watching

ETA: it just ended. Waiting for a translation!

Jeez... Whished I got it live! (I was cooking my breakfast. At 10:30am...) I caught it up, but couldn't message anyting... :(

one thing we all need to consider is uncertainty creates nerves. she isn't confident yet in technique changes, this is still very very new for her. putting something out in competition that is a work in progress is a really scary thing. your confidence isn't there.

it's one thing to literally have your body be a machine in the technique you were taught and practiced for years, which is why she won 2 years straight...she knew it like the back of her hand and there was never any question she would miss.

she'll of course get back to this, but brian is 100% right, it's going to take a long time. i wouldn't be surprised for it to take even longer than 2 years.

Shame, I missed it. Hope it gets uploaded somewhere soon. Really just want to give her a hug at this point.

Not only that but if you look at her 2015/16 and 2016/17 programm at least her free programm side by side you will see that the layout is the exact same. All the jumps are the exact same , in the same order. The spins to from what I seem to remember. Only thing different would have been the music and step sequence. So basically her body new what jumps came in what order for the past 2 years. Now? A new layout, ne jumping order, new combos she is trying. Adding the fact that they changes her layout at almost every comp in this season. And than add everything else she has going on and is dealing with than it really is no wonder that she isn't as good this season as she and we are used to

So the pain is in her upper back? I always assumed Zhenya’s problem was in her lower back.

The patches almost look like cupping marks, like I’ve seen on Olympic swimmers.

Another skater said it was a fracture on her lower back, but it’s possible that she is also having upper back problems.

Those don’t really look like cupping marks to me. Cupping marks don’t overlap. In other pictures from the side you can see more clearly that they are raised

Man.. i just feel brian is not the right coach for her, i was not really excited when she choose brian as her next coach, but ima still try and believee, and hope they prove me wrong. I just hope Zhenya doesnt go broke, paying orser coaching fee. 100k per year is very steep.

Her drop off is one of the most confusing things ever in the history of figure skating because she's gone from one great coach to another great coach. When Alexei Yagudin went from one great coach Alexei Mishin to another great coach in Tatiana Tarasova his performance level stayed the same or better. Somehow dealing new technique has made her lose her confidence completely. Sorry for any emotional pain Zhenya is in. I hope she feels less pressure now and aces her free skate. I just think moving her training base from Moscow to Toronto and taking some crap for it has done some internal damage to her and that is such a damn shame. Maybe if she doesn't have a sports psychologist at the moment she will get one soon so she can deal with all of this and put it in its proper place.

Okay this beyond sucks. I felt that the door was open to place 2nd here.

I noticed at the end of her skate, she looked annoyed at herself. Like, Come on, how can I keep doing this! I think that is good because she is beginning to step out of that bubble, become more self aware. Not sure if that makes sense.

I love the dress, especially the sleeves. Her spins look the best I have seen ever I think. The program is awesome. I really like it. She performed it really well considering it is sooo new. I really want her to keep this program for next season.

I want it to be her long next season.

We love you, Evgenia, no matter what. That's it.

I am so touched by the support that Evgenia receives from TAT.

For this, I pledge my undying allegiance to her ;)
