Evgenia Medvedeva

Well.. a few things I didn‘t get while watching the first time

1. it is INSANE how long the crowd clapped for her

2. the reaction her and Brian showed was Canada not France. Maybe we‘ll get a Canada FS and not a France one.

I hope she sticks with this SP for next season and only gets a new FS. Her season will be over sooner anyway and then she has time to really get comfortable with the SP and only work on the new FS.

I've been emotional from before the Olympics up until now. I'm surprisingly calm. I love her new sp program and I think she will be on top again. If she skipped this season, people would have said she was afraid to skate. It has taken real courage to compete with injuries, New technique, and new coach and country. She is amazing.

On another note, can anyone explain to me whether it‘s possible to put an entire thread on the ignore list? I feel like I need it right now.

I think Maxim Kovtun needs to give Evgenia a peptalk. Last year he was 16th after Sp at Nationals and withdrew and now he is National Champion 2018. She needs some of his magic for next season

I love her new SP, too. And she performed it so well here despite the technical mistakes. And her and Brian’s reaction was more like the one they showed in Canada. In France she was on the verge of crying whereas here she wasn‘t. Maybe she‘ll fight back tomorrow. She can still land in the top 10. I think they‘re growing as a team and honestly, I‘m so fed up with being negative so here I go: She‘ll bounce back tomorrow!! She‘ll show everyone! And then she‘ll train, become calmer, go to some minor competitions and start next year with self-confidence and new-found strength!!

I haven't seen the protocols yet but her spins seemed to be better. Also, she kind of regained the usual height on the 3Loop. Obviously there is progression from the last competition on those problem areas. She has definitely been working hard for it. Now the 3Flip... I don't know if this is a mental block or the jump is giving her some trouble because of the changed technique on the evil brother jump - the Lutz. And the problem with the 2A was psychological, she was hesitating and lost speed going into it.

Still,I love her new SP. It's dramatic and kind of sensual. I could feel all the emotions from it. It would probably remain as my most favourite program of hers, I hope she would perform it cleanly someday somewhere. It's not like her old programs at all. This program doesn't emote the feelings through facial expression but through her entire body. From all 18 contenders, her performance was really on another level. I have expected that her artistic abilities would go downhill after the change of coaches, because there's no other Alexei Zheleznyakov to train dance with but I was so wrong. I don't know if it's just me but she's grown artistically so much. I've noticed it first at her shows in the summer but now it's even more obvious. I know that artistry doesn't win competitions, it's also fair enough. But I wanted to share this. She's still my No.1 and I am cheering for her no matter what!

I am so moved by what she said in her livestream - she is such an honest and wise person and I am so happy to hear how the amazing support she received has resonated with her and reignited her belief in herself. That's what I wanted for her this Nationals, to see how much support and love she has.

Like she said herself, win or lose, however this competition ends, she can take that feeling of love away.

And on a more superficial note, I LOVE the new dress! She looked so beautiful and it really suited the new program! I also hope they keep this SP for next season because I can see it becoming a masterpiece for her and an important one for her career :D

She got Level 4 on all of her spins. One thing to be relieved about. Now she just needs to combine clean jumps and clean spins together :D

If he said this I think it was probably meant as a joke. In fact, when I did not do something well, I liked such comments on my adress better than just consoling. This can be the thing that raises your morale, you can laugh on your mistakes rather than feel pity about them.

Okay. If Brian made the comment as a joke, then it’s sort of like “gallows humor” and I get it.

Agree, we need to start a petition to ask her to keep this SP.:laugh: It is so goog, would be such a shame not to see it again.

Remember, her skating skills coach now is Tracy Wilson. Tracy was a ice dancer, OG bronze medalist.

I just saw Zhenya's presentation, I have not seen anyone else.
no golden dress?, well, it does not matter, the red looks good, it looks a bit like Tarakanova's dress (:

My girl, I 'm so proud of her struggle, nobody said that this change would be easy, she knew it from the beginning, all this was already within the possibilities already contemplated. she looked nervous, but even so it was not unpleasant to look at, I really like the choreography and the music cuts, it has very good weather. At the same time there is a lot of room for improvement, in fact they could even take up this program for the next season because it has a lot of potential.

Evgenia received the affection of the people and she can charge her batteries for the FS.
Go, Zhenya !!:luv17::hap10:

It was obvious that the Moscow crowd at the Russian test skate loved her. The crowd at Skate Canada totally adopted her as one of their own. Now Zhenya won the crowd again in Saransk after her sp.

I hope now she realizes that the internet trolls in the comment sections are just unhappy losers looking for a scapegoat. She’s got the full support of fans around the world.

Looking at the results from 2015-2018, she would need 150 points in FS to get into a medal fight, which means super clean skate might get her a bronze and would be a huge success after all.

So the pain is in her upper back? I always assumed Zhenya’s problem was in her lower back.

The patches almost look like cupping marks, like I’ve seen on Olympic swimmers.

It is not cupping. Cupping looks more like a round bruise. These are raised of the skin.

Huge sucess would be to get to the top 5. It could be realistic even if anyone else will skate clean. What she really needs is not the medal but to get higher results then Stasya and Sofia, so she can bounced back in the european and worlds.
But most likely Stasya will be overscored and Sofia consistent.
