Evgenia Medvedeva

Looking at the results from 2015-2018, she would need 150 points in FS to get into a medal fight, which means super clean skate might get her a bronze and would be a huge success after all.

You know what, if there is any place she could get that kind of score, it will be on home turf. But she really needs to skate clean - maybe if she skates the same way she did at Skate Canada, assuming she won't get any calls, she might make it.

Evgenia, please keep your SP for next season. Better yet, please make it your long. It is too gorgeous to only be performed once. And like what another posted her already said, it is already my favorite program of all....

Clean skates in the LP, and Zhenya can bypass the main competitors for selection for the European championship and world Cup. She can get 150 for LP. Stanislava and Sofia received 135-136 for clean LP skates on GP and GPF.

With a decent skate, she can get up to top 10. With a good skate, she can probably get around 8-6. With a good skate and favorable circumstances, she could go a bit higher?

After seeing the crowd's reaction and seeing her words about it, I'm okay with whatever happens. She's already said that she can handle it no matter what happens, and moving forward she believes in herself. That's all I really needed. I think it's what she needed too. I know she'll fight tomorrow, but no matter what happens, I think this experience is good for her.

At this point I hope she lets go tomorrow and just skates her heart out. She has nothing left to loose anyway. And I would say in free programanything is possible. From all skating cleanup the favourites skating unclean, just about everything can happen. But for me the most important thing is that she mentally seems to get better . She is starting to believe in herself again. A big big thank you to the crowd in Russia who gave her the mind blowing applause she desperately needed.

Sad day for us. Maybe she can pull Nathan Chen in the FS...
Anyway, I only hope this experience will not plant a seed of doubt in her in her team's minds.

What saddens me honestly is not the bad skate but the environment she's right now in. I might be overreacting but she seems so lonely there. I don't even know how to correctly describe what I mean. I know she has Tarasova's support and the Federation hasn't abandoned her yet. But she's more outgoing with international skaters as with the ones at the home. Those photos from the night gala from 2 days ago gave me some mixed feelings. All her ex-teammates were sitting together, also another skaters have been chatting with each other, whereas she was alone with Brian.

anyone know what the issue on the axel was? did she use her old technique?

A combination of both old and new, which is really why it was such a hard fall I think. The weird takeoff was similar to how she used to muscle up her axels with a lot of pre-rotation but she has so much more power now that she was too high and fast to control it with the bad takeoff so she completely overrotated and her axis was off on the landing.

I think she doubted herself right before the jump so she slowed down and fell back into old muscle memory with the takeoff but could not control the height and rotation because she never used to have such power on an axel.

She is friendly with Stanislava and others skaters, not only from single skating. She was chatting with other girls during practices. I think she didn't want to leave Brian alone, he wouldn't have had any company at all.

I think old technique but her new speed . That did not mesh well together

The funny part is that on watching the replay, even with the bad takeoff, she is almost a half rotation too far overrotated... we all said a 3A would never be possible even if they fixed her 2A but seeing this in slow motion I am laughing at the madness of it. With enough power and a proper takeoff I do not think a 3A is out of the question in a year or 2.

Dang, I just watched her skate :(

I know that fighter-Zhenya can come back in the free, even if it's "just" to a personal victory. A SB free skate might not get her on the team, but it would be a confidence booster, and she needs that right now. And the competition's not over yet, she can still prove herself tomorrow :) (where I will be so scared when I watch live)

Honestly, I will support Zhenya in anything she does because I am her fan, but I am kind of scared right now. Not because of her, but... Brian was so confused when he saw that 62 = 14th. I don't think he realizes how deep the field is, and it hurts me to see Zhenya going out there looking so nervous/panicked/scared.

I only hope that Zhenya can end her competition happy tomorrow. I hope that she comes out as a fighter, with the same will and determination that took her to her successes throughout life, not just skating. I hope she comes out wanting to slay, because I know she has all the goods to do so if she believes in herself. I wish I could tell her how much I, and all of her fans, believe in her

Good luck tomorrow Zhenya! Go smash that free skate

Also a good thing that she didn't stop performing, got all levels. Earlier this season she got even level 2 for her step sequence after a messed jump.

In the review they changed the level from 2 to 3 for the StSq during after her skate back then :)

Glad I am not then only one thinking that. [emoji3][emoji8]

I don’t think it’s her team that may have doubts. Brian and Tracy have been through this multiple times.

I worry that Zhenya might think that moving to Canada and Brian was a mistake.

Thank you for posting. Always happy to see your posts.

I do not think she will. She has said before that while it has taken time for her to realize it will not be easy and she will lose at times, she is glad to be improving her technique and working towards longevity. And she seems to really enjoy working with Brian and skating at TCC so I think while it is hard right now she will be fine in time.
