I can imagine her mom is more involved now than before with Eteri, at the very least because she'd be the one overseeing the finances now. It's got to be a very different level of anxiety when suddenly what's at stake is also the money you're paying straight out of your pocket when all the previous years in your daughter's career that wasn't the case. And then what's also to consider is that it's a very different living situation for the mom now, far away from home, likely with no other job than managing Zhenya. I don't think she's some crazy skating mom though as TSL seems to be hinting at. They just love that kind of stories, it seems... drama is their business. I just don't buy it, same as I don't buy Brian expecting Zhenya to win Worlds. I'm sure he thought she'd do better, but that? Yeah no.

I don't understand why they hate her FP so much, either. But oh well.

I think It is mkre zhenyas money than her mother's money .And besides zhenya is 19 years old and legally an adult anyways so if push came to shove what I don't think will happen than zhenya does have to do what her mother says .
 
It is strictly speaking Zhenya's money but she might be the only breadwinner in the family right now. And she's at the very least the one who earns most. Anyway, I'm not implying anything about a "money hungry" mom or anything like that. Just saying that financial burdens always add a very different level of pressure, especially when that burden just wasn't there for a big chunk of Zhenya's career at all.

It‘s fair for her not to go to worlds or Euros but it was always that way that the A team went to Worlds and the B to Universiade. E.g. 2017 with Lena Radionova and Liza Tuktamysheva, neither of whom was on the Worlds team this tear. Now, due to the special situation this year with Liza, I understand why they send her. Bur Stasya is on the A team this year, she has the chance to prove herself at Europeans. That‘s why I don‘t understand why she‘s being sent to Universiade over Zhenya.

Yes, I am also fine with EC and Worlds, but Universiade is a bit strange to me. Especially, considering that 2 years ago they could have given Universiade to Anna Pogorilaya (she was on the main team), but she only went to EC and Worlds while at Universiade they gave a chance to other girls who were below her at Nationals.
