Evgenia Medvedeva

I am wondering now, did they gave Konstantinova the Universiade spot, because they are considering Evgenia for Worlds? I mean if they were 100% sure that either Sofia or Stanislava will go to Worlds they would have given Evgenia the Universiade spot.

Oh by the way Merry Christmas to you all [emoji173][emoji268][emoji319][emoji319]

Merry Christmas!!❤️🎄🎄

But... does it sound weird when I say I don‘t want Zhenya at Worlds? I would have wanted her at Euros with Brian and Javi but not Worlds where there is additional pressure for her to do well enough to keep the three spots. She isn‘t ready for that this year. Send her to Universiade, please, she was never there and it‘s a great experience. But not Worlds. I don‘t want her go when she‘s not even half-ready physically and mentally and then for her to have to struggle to even make the top 10. At the Universiade she could get a medal and end the season on a positive note. It would be sooo much better for her psychologically.

Edit: I just thought... If they wanted Zhenya at Worlds, they‘d need to give her the chance to prove herself. Which she could do at eithee Euros or Universiade. Yet they gave her nothing. Is it really that the fed wants her there or more that TAT wants her there? :scratch2:

Actually what I was curious about was whether Brian was a part of the deliberations since he is a coach of a Russian skater. I thought he would surely be there with TAT, because how could he meaninfully participate since he does not speak the language. But since it seems like Brian and TAT were both not there (?), then Evgenia was left without representation....

Yeah. TAT said someone abstained and someone wasn't there, too. I don't know if she's referring to Brian with the later but I don't think so? Which makes it a bit sketchy. We shouldn't completely trust one entity in these situations but the way TAT described it made it sound like those who weren't part of the process (Brian, TAT, missing person, person who abstained) were ones who would've either been on Zhenya's side or been neutral/objective.

The principle of her not being on the team because she didn't do well at nationals is perfectly fine and fair, I hope no one misunderstands. But leaving our voices on her side and/or neutral and objective voices is not okay. Lying to the press and saying it was unanimous just makes it even sketchier...

I agree, I don't think they want her at Worlds.

Which is a bit unfair. I‘m still salty they didn‘t give Universiade to Zhenya. Why all the talk about Worlds when they could have made this a whole lot easier?

Stanislava, Alina and Sofia for Euros
Zhenya and Liza for Universiade, if Liza is ready she replaces Sofia at Worlds. That‘s it. It‘s as easy. And Stasya has the chance to prove herself at Euros. No problems at all. But still Rusfed as usually decides to unnecessarily complicate it.

Yes, it seems like she's staying in Russia for the New Year.
Just to clarify -- New Year is a bigger and a more important holiday than Christmas in Russia, and it is more cherished in families. So if they got a short break from practices, it makes sense to spend some time with family :)

Maybe she will practice somewhere in Moscow while she is on break??!

Universidade and Worlds are very close to each other. I think two weeks apart? They couldn't expect her to travel to Russia for Universidade and then travel to Worlds right after which is in Japan. Maybe you are right.

When is the cup of Russia? Cause potentially they could send zhenya to it and see how she is doing. Since it is a competition where she could potentially also secure her a spot at world's. If she wants to do that is also another question or if her team and her decide to just train and go to minor comps

I know that TAT kindly welcomed Nathan and Raf to the rink when Nathan needed somewhere to train before IDF, I'm sure she'd welcome Zhenya. Zhenya may want this week of rest though, who knows.

Question: Is TAT actively coaching? Or does she just kind of "oversee" many skaters? Also, I know she's located in Moscow but what is her home rink?

I don‘t think TAT is actively coaching but if I‘m not mistaken she oversees the team of Elena Buyanova at CSKA. Which is what makes it particularly funny and also somewhat ironic that she‘s now so fiercely Team Evgenia. I just hope that part of this support is due to her actively and really liking Zhenya as a person.

Yes, she oversees Buyanova's team, TAT spends 3 days a weak with them.

Guess who opened her package of Liam Cross today and found a drawing of one particularly beautiful skater inside? :luv17:

Well, Tschajkovskaya (don't know how to write her last name in English) said that Medvedeva had disappeared and she is no longer a girl ppl had fallen in love with. Considering, she is the main coach at the coaching counselling, Zhenya is out of WTT too. Plus, she was.strongly against going to Orser. She said it was a huge mistake.

Well can anyone please tell that woman that she neither disappeared nor have we fallen out of love with our zhenya? If Russian nationals showed one thing than the fact that she is and will always be loved by so so many people. Naturally she isn't the 15 year old girl anymore she matured and has grown up which is natural since it is the natural process any human being goes through. But she is still the wonderful , beautiful talented young woman we fell in love with. God how do I hate someone like this

Well, now at least we know who to blame... Nah, honestly, I hope WTT is not assigned by fed but rather by invitations. Has she seen how people reacted towards Zhenya at Nationals? They love her! So much to the: “she‘s not the girl we originally fell in love with“ Yeah, obviously, Sherlock, she‘s older now and won‘t be as perfect as the pre-pubescent girl who won Worlds in 2016. She’s grown both mentally and physically. And also, she’s injured. Instead of accusing a skater that did so much for her country of not being the same person that never falls anymore, support her now that she needs it. Now would be the time they could give something back to Zhenya. Instead they once again decided that if you‘re not 100% ready and the star you once were, you‘ll be kicked away sooner than you can even say “flutz“.

Sorry for my ranting here but that is beyond ridiculous.
