Evgenia Medvedeva

I think it’s more of ice time problem than „don’t come here for drama sake” problem. Without Brian she is coachless now in Russia and I suppose ice time in Sambo-70 is assigned to coach so his/her group can train. She would have to join another group and besides Eteri’s (which is crowded) I only know about Tsareva who works in Sambo. Maybe CSKA just had some free slots or Evgenia was simply invited by Sokolovskaia to join her students in training. I think that people’s reaction at RusNats and Zhenya’s meeting with officials showed that she is still very high profile surname and I wouldn’t be surprised if CSKA asked her to come also for subtle PR sake

That‘s a good explanation. It still feels a bit weird to me but this makes sense. Thank you. :)

Am I the only one who thinks it‘s weird she‘s training at CSKA given that Sambo is still the club she officially represents? I mean, sure, maybe she doesn‘t want to train there (understandable, it would probably be problematic) but it‘s still her club and now she can‘t even go there because of all the drama? Just let her change to CSKA already, she doesn‘t gain anything at all from being with Sambo...

I‘m glad she‘s at CSKA, though, is welcomed there and can make some new friends. :)

Yup, I said the same thing. Agreed 100%
I'm very happy to see how well received she is at the CSKA rink though!

Saw this in another thread.
Piseev (who was the director of rusfed for a long time, and now is a honorary director), said (https://iz.ru/827022/timur-ganeev-s...i-iuniorki-vytesniaiut-zagitovu-i-medvedevu): "I think that Zhenya should come back to Russia and train here again. I don't entirely understand when they take a two times world champion and try to change her technique and jumps. This can be done with ones who didn't reach such heights as her. But this is not Medvedeva's case. Of course, Zhenya didn't have much time, but now we can only regret the missed oportunity. I'd like to see her succeed in the end."

Seems to me that they aren’t on the same page as Evgenia about where she stood technically and health wise at the end of last season. Which is a shame. I trust that she knows herself best and is doing the right thing. I think they will be pleasantly surprised to see her in top condition for years to come. Anyone with eyes can see how much progress she has made in the short time she has been at TCC.

Luckily, Piseev is more of an exception to think that and being retired and all, his opinion doesn't hold that much weight tbh. Besides, where does he think she can return to? Eteri isn't an option and she's the top coach in Russia in Ladies. Fact is, Zhenya went to one of the only few coaches in the world that wouldn't have been a clear downgrade compared to her old team.

That is reassuring, I don’t know much about those behind the federation. But I’m glad to know this isn’t the majority opinion. And I completely agree, she did her time training with those who have a track record of getting the best results for children and teenagers. Now she has moved on to those who have a track record of getting the best results for adults. There really were very few other places for her to go.

Just a short question to distract us:

What would a SP layout of

3S-3Lo
2A
3F x

Mean for Zhenya points wise? Not that I want her to change her layout again, absolutely not, just something I thought about lately after seeing how good her 3S-3Lo was and how often she‘s shown trouble with 3F-3T lately. If she fails the 3Lo she could still try a 3F-3T. I‘m absolutely bad at maths, though, so no idea how good a layout like that would be.

Ideal option 3A and 4S. I believe it's possible. In next season.

Does not make much different points wise.;)

Love your Avatar. Black and white is cool. :)

Thank you. I like yours too. It’s meme quality: Zhenya’s hair is so fluffy even she herself has to constantly touch it.

Choosing an avatar with Zhenya is pretty difficult, though. You go through pictures of her and it‘s like: Oh she‘s beautiful on that one... and that‘s a cute pic too... and here again... and after 100 pics you‘re like WHY DOES SHE HAVE TO LOOK GOOD ON EVERY SINGLE ONE DAMNIT

:laugh2::laugh2: This is so funny and also completely true!

Not a surprise at all.

Mr. Piseev is entitled to his opinion, but there's a newsflash for him: The "World" doesn't end west of Smolensk, south of Sochi, Omsk or Irkutsk, nor east of Vladivostok or Uelen! That mentality, described by French-Canadian (but Moscow-born) actress and comedian Kim Yaroshevskaya, can be found on her biography named "Mon Voyage en Amérique" (literal translation: "My Journey to America", as there's no English version of this book) by these two sentences found on page 12:

On leur disait: "Vous n'avez aucune raison valable de partir". Dans mon cas, c'était pire: on a dit qu'on avait beaucoup investi en moi.
Translation: They told them: "You have no valid reason to leave". In my case, it was worse: they say that they invested a lot in me.

Given the context of today, those ideologies doesn't stick on the pavement anymore. And Zhenya, by her bold move last spring, is the first wakeup call for the older generations to come to terms and move it on. The avalanche of support, by her fellow citizens, in Saransk proved just that.

Note.: As a Québec native, I can relate to in some extent, though no physical barrier needed: the language one did enough. Anyone knows the TV series "Under The Dome"? Well, you got a virtual one there...
