Evgenia Medvedeva

I hope being on tour with/getting show choreography from Jeff leads to her getting him for her free program next season. He would have been my first choice for somebody local to work with for this season.

I wanted Jeff Buttle for her free program last year. for this year.

On Instagram they reply to a comment saying she'll be attending all 2019 Stars on Ice Canada shows.

Then she must no longer by doing the Italian show. There are shows in Canada on May 3rd, 4th, and 5th. She'd miss all of them if she went to Italy.

That‘s great news! Seeing Zhenya in the off-season is always a treat. I wonder what programs she‘ll do... maybe OCS? But I‘d like her to have a new dress, if she does! Anyway, I‘m really looking forward to seeing her but for now, it‘ll be the Russian Cup Final. :)

I just rewatched some of Evgenia's old programs and I remembered that her set up for her Lutz was completely different back then. Back then in 2015 and before she set up her Lutz similar to Alina and others, therefore she had a more shallow inside or flat edge. I wondered why they changed it in the seasom after in 2016/17. With the old set up it would have been much easier to train an outside edge. Have they ever given an reason why they changed the technique of her Lutz?

Here is what I mean:

I wonder if they changed to the loop-like set up because she is so comfortable with edge jumps that even though it might be harder for her to find the correct edge, it helps in another way? like getting height or just confidence into the jump?

pure speculation of course, I am trying to learn but I still don't know much about the technical side of things! Would be interested to hear other people's thoughts though!

The silver medalist of the 2018 Olympic Games in figure skating, Evgenia Medvedeva, must fight for the chance to take part in the World Championships if she is ready for the tournament, two-time Olympic champion Evgeny Plushenko told RIA Novosti. Medvedeva is an alternate at the Russian national team for the Worlds Championship, which will be held on March 18 - 24 in the Japanese city of Saitama. The figure skater took the seventh place in the Russian Nationals in December and could not be selected for the European championship.
“She needs to be prepared for the season anyway, Zhenya is an experienced fighter. Something did not work out for her at the start yet, but there’s nothing terrible in this. Alina Zagitova also did not succeed so far - and she does not have any insurmountable difficulties. Girls are growing up, and they have to go through this. Medvedeva can only overcome this by fighting. I would not leave out Evgenia before the Worlds, because her experience is worth a lot, " - said Plushenko on the phone.
“Zhenya is a big star of figure skating. But she also needs to be seen in a competitive setting before the main tournament,” the agency’s interlocutor noted. “It is also very important that she herself evaluates her own strength.” According to Plushenko, Medvedeva herself should answer some questions. “Can she overcome herself already this season? Can she get up now after all these falls in competitions? If she can, then she needs to go and prove it at some competition before the World Championship,” the expert is sure. "She needs to go and fight for her own place, do her job cleanly. "

So, maybe whoever does better between Zhenya and Liza at Russian Cup will go to Worlds?
I really don't know what RusFed is going to do here, how broad they're going to make the search for the third spot (assuming that Sofia and Alina are getting the first two; as erratic as Alina's last two events have been, her potential upside is too great not to send her). Liza's track record in the first half of the season would normally mandate that she get it, but there's an element of uncertainty introduced by her illness and need to halt training for a bit as a result. Stanislava is just plain unreliable, but she'd also have a case to make, even after Europeans.

Gorshkov gave an interview two days ago
“The procedure for determining the composition has long been known and was published on the website of the federation even after the Russian championship in December,” Gorshkov noted. - It says that according to the results of the tournament held in Saransk, the executive committee approved the composition of the national team for the European Championship and Universiade. At the World Championships, candidates for the team will be determined based on the results of performances at the European championship, and for substitutes - at other competitions. This is either the Universiade (figure skating competitions will be held in Krasnoyarsk from 5 to 9 March - approx. Team Russia), or the Russian Cup final. The All-Russian Coaching Council will take all this into account and make a list, which will be given to the executive committee of the federation.

- Olympic champion Alexey Urmanov believes that at the Russian Cup final, it would be possible to organize additional test prokaty in men's and women's single skating.

- This is his opinion. Everyone has the right to their own point of view and can express it. I repeat - before February 25, an application list for the World Cup will be formed, taking into account the recommendations of the coaching council. Who will consider the results of the team's performance at the European Championships and the participation of spare, as well as those athletes who wish to do so, at the Russian Cup final in Novgorod or the Universiade.

I understsand him that an application list will be formed after the Russian Cup but it can happen that after the Universade someone from the official alternates that were submitted before the deadline of February 25th can go instead.

This is a bit confusing to me. So will they form the team based on Europeans AND Russian Cup, or they'll just stick with the Euros team?

Edit: I suppose he means that they will take into consideration the results that Sofia, Alina and Stanislava had at Euros, but also the results of Evgenia and Liza at Russian Cup or Universiade.
