Evgenia Medvedeva

I'm behind the times, when is the competition and where can we watch?

The competition is the Russian Cup Final, and it will determine whether or not Zhenya qualifies for worlds. I don't know where you can watch it, I don't think it is being broadcast internationally although it might be on Russian tv, and it's possible a couple youtube channels might stream it

Ladies SP is on Feb 21 I believe. It’s usually not streamed but results will be posted online. I’m sure some amazing Russian friends on Twitter will be able to post results ASAP

thank you! Maybe for the best that I can't watch - don't know if my nerves will be able to take it!

I think I read somewhere that official practices and the competition are going to be streamed.

Last year the practices were streamed and parts of the competition also on YouTube but it was geo blocked in the US. Normally this competition gets very little attention and I just hope Evgenia does well. I think it would be good for her confidence to finish this season with cleanish programs. I would be shocked if they actually sent her to Worlds but who knows with Russia????

This competition used to get very little attention but the same with the test skates there is a bit of an Evgenia Effect happening.

Oh, I see! I hope that some streams aren't geo blocked this time

Yes, I just want her to perform two programs that she can be proud of. The rest is out of her hands.

I feel like I am in the minority in thinking that Zhenya has a very decent shot at the Worlds team. Her only competition are Stasya and Elizaveta, assuming Sofia and Alina are locks.

If Elizaveta shows she has mostly regained her pre-pneumonia form, then she's on the team for sure. But with her recent showing at the Dragon Trophy, her spot should be highly contingent. It may feel unfair, but she shouldn't be sent based on her body of work this season if she's not ready when it matters for Worlds now.

Stasya was just as inconsistent as Zhenya and shouldn't be as much of a lock as people say. She worked hard and was fortunate to skate well and win Nats, but proceeded to perform poorly at Euros. She's just as risky as Zhenya and they had very similar skates this season.

Zhenya still had the highest free skate score of the seniors at Nats. With her SP hopefully more comfortable now, she has a decent shot. Internationally, her PCS advantage is still nothing to laugh at.

It should all come down to whoever skates best at the cup final, so no one is in or out yet.

I think it‘s weird that we don‘t know the full list of participants yet. The tournament starts tomorrow! Of course, ladies SP is in a few days but still... we should know by now.

Do we know when the first practices are scheduled to take place?

:luv17: Go Zhenya!! :hap10:

The first official practice is Thursday morning - the day of the short. I hope they have other ones before. Sort of weird right?

What? That does not make sense at all. I mean, normally they have at least two practices before the competition. This all seems a bit weird to be honest. Especially, why wait so long to put out the entries? It‘s not like there are any surprises. I just hope they know what they‘re doing.

This wasn't supposed to be a big competition so maybe it has a more relaxed vibe with regard to practices. I do hope they do give some more ice time even if it is not an official practice.

They didn't want to publish the entries because they were trying to control the hype (seems pointless) or maybe Liza needed more time to decide. I don't know.

Apparently all the skaters knew who was participating. It is just us that were left suffering not knowing!

I actually agree with all of this, I just don't know whether I like this prospect. :D But I'm still curious how the competition will go and what decision RusFed will make.

I mentioned a few pages back that I was drawing Zhenya, and I thought you guys might like to see the finished piece!

drawing that dress certainly made me appreciate all the detail the designers go into :drama: but it's still one of my favourites! the 'meditation' exhibition piece is just stunning

Woah baby! You did a great job!

I'm so excited about the competition, I'll most likely watch the practices live if they're streamed as well, and I'm also sooooo scared!!
