Evgenia Medvedeva

I watched the jumps in slow motion, and I'm a bit worried because all of her jumps - especially the toe ones - look on the way to becoming UR. Also, the 3Lo in the combo could've been called. I don't think that this will be a problem today, but I'm a bit worried for the future. And the weird part of it is that she has more height on her jumps, especially the edge ones, and yet this is happening.

Does anyone know what time the fs starts (Moscow time)?

2pm I think.

Oh I'm scared :( I didn't realize they were almost UR. She hasn't had too much of a problem with URs, has she? I know Alina has chronic URs this season.
Her jumps looked great to me in real time but I'm worried if this is a technique or stamina problem. I remember her 3Lo was called under at SCI but I thought it might have been just because she was tired.

2pm I think.

Thank you!

And I wouldn’t worry too much long term, by the sounds of what those close to her training inner circle have said she came to Orser with no jumps at the start of this season, and I can believe that. Remember this season is transitional, any medals are a bonus.

At this competition I personally am just looking for her to stay on her feet and skate clean. I trust that she will continue to improve leading up to the next season and hopefully get those rotations faster and more solid, especially if her team is considering the possibility of a 4S.

In fact her jumps are better than ever- including the toe jumps. There was no UR:palmf:

I didn‘t see any URs in the practice video either but the quality wasn‘t top notch there. But I do think that it‘s interesting how her jumps look in practice compared to the actual competition.

All the jumps in practice have visibly more flow, better height and coverage and seem better rotated. To me this means that everything is still a work in process. She still gets nervous in competition and her muscle memory isn‘t quite there yet (especially on the 2A, notice how it‘s always smaller in competition?). I think that‘s okay. Her SP was finally clean and that‘s something to be happy about. I think the jumps looking tighter in competition is just her being more nervous. But honestly, for this competition I just wanted her to be happy with her skates and with a clean SP, we‘ve already one step accomplished. I don‘t expect perfection yet.

But, Vandevska, if you could tell us where exactly you saw the URs, I would be thankful. :)

It´s normal that the jumps are better in practise. I think the toe jumps with the new technique are looking more secure in comparison to the Grand Prix season and National. 2A height was also in some competitions already good.

I watched the practice stream and wow, Evgenia's jumps were flawless! She always has amazing practices though, so I'm not reading too much into it. Her 3S+3Lo was a thing a beauty. Has anyone ever done 3S+3Lo before?

All jumps were clean. No spins. As far as I can tell, she was using the same layout as RusNats. Her 2A+3T combo was great, but I'm scared of 2A combos for her in competition. Her only mistake at Nationals FP was that combo. And at IdF, she opened with 2A+3Lo and when she missed, her mental game was off for the rest of the program. I think when she gets nervous, her muscle memory is probably stuck between her old and new technique for 2A.

I really hope she can jump as well during competition! Her jumps are always better to me during practice tbh. During competition, they are not as easy as in official practice. I am rooting for a clean skate! She is my favorite.

I am loving all her practice outfits too. I think the crop top is actually a great look!

Welcome to Evgenia's fan fest. Post often.

I'm not an expert when it come to jumps, and maybe I saw wrongly. I didn't think she URed them, but they looked a bit close. As for the quality, they for sure look better, and the snap time from the 3S to the 3Lo is shorter for example. Overall she definitely looks stronger, and as I said, her step sequence was longer. However, that's what I saw, that's what I shared.

It's normal that she's better in practice, especially with being so nervous in competitions. I hope that yesterday's SP gave her more confidence. And as always, good luck bear!!! :hap10: :hap10: :hap10: :hap10: :hap10:

It‘s okay, I think we can share what we saw in here. And it definitely gives us something to discuss, so I would say it‘s a good thing. :)

Support for Zhenya! Good luck bear!! :hap10: :cheer:

I'm surprisingly calm for now, but will definitely be nervous later. She's so beautifuuuuuuuuuuuuuul

One thing I love about her is that she has such a nice posture throughout the jumps.
