as frustrating as that UR call was —looked cleaner to me than some of the other uncalled toeloops tonight 
— you guys!!! she still scored a season’s best by a long shot and got lots of hugs and love from brian and tracy. she’s still right in the mix to potentially wind up on the podium, but for now we must celebrate!!! she’s here!!! at worlds!!! and she skated beautifully

There were much worse UR that weren't called and uncalled edges but it's done so there's unfortunately no point in getting worked up over it to be honest
The good news is that Zhenya was calm and focused and she got a new SP season's best
She's in a great spot to get a season's best total in the free and a good placement!!!

My bad, I didn't check, was just rewatching Anna Pogorilaya's SP were commentators said that she was the only Russian girl in the first three. I'm soo mad at that UR call but happy at the same time. Feelings...

Can we all just remember the season that she (and we!) have been having. Sitting in 4th at Worlds, breathing down their necks. We wouldn't have imagine it after Black Saturday (aka, GP France). Anything can happen in the free skate and she's worked enough to keep herself in that fight.

Hey, I was super happy for her clean SP until I saw that underrotation.
How do they call it? Do they use specific cameras from above?
Because if they use the horizontal cameras there is a serious margin of error and the call will depend on what the technical controller/specialist's thinks.
In the case of doubt they shouldn't call UR, Zhenya could easily be on the top 3 right now...

According to ISU, A jump will be considered as “Under-rotated” if it has missing rotation of ¼ revolution or more, but less than ½ revolution. There are some close-up cameras to detect if that jump is UR or not, requested by the judges.

Many thanks zblc015 for your insightful analysis. I deeply love figure skating but am a profane of the sport. I find it very helpful when someone who is technically knowledgeable compares the performances of the top skaters and helps me to understand the scores. When it is done in a respectful way as you did, it is most appreciated.

I looked at it and she would have received 11.00 (9.5 BV and 1.5 GOE) for the combo if she did not get called for UR. That would have made her score 77.08 and in second place. I'm upset right now
