Evgenia Medvedeva

What’s the English translation?

Auto-translation:

"Diet. Week 4. Medvedeva refused meat-eating and feeds on flowers.

These are probably those that she did not give to Eteri Tutberidze.

Two-time world champion Evgenia Medvedev shared in instagram stories with details of her food.

"Diet. Week four, ”the 19-year-old figure skater signed a video on which she eats flowers using sushi sticks. “How are the flowers?” A man’s voice asked behind the scenes. “It’s even edible,” said Zhenya.

. After moving to Brian Orser, Medvedev became vegan.
. A new short program by Eugenia was put under the composition “Exogenesis: Symphony, Part 3” by the Muse group, and Ilya Averbukh acted as a choreographer.
. In the arbitrary, she will ride under the "Memoirs of a Geisha."

Figure skaters leave from Tutberidze and lose all. Only Medvedev is in the top."

I'm not a technician in any means but to my untrained eye I have the feeling that getting a 3A would be actually far more achievable than a 4S, as funny as it sounds. I've just rewatched her WC performances - I know her 2A in the free were shaky, one of them was also called under, but the 2A from the SP was pretty much the standard from her trainings prior to the competition. Not only the axel looked effortless and beautiful but it seems that there's an extra cushion and if she generates more power from her legs, she could achieve another revolution. This is something that I could see in her loop too but not in the salchow.

Also, I have been wondering is there any chance that she improves her BV for the free by adding a 3S-3Lo and a 3S-3T? And maybe changing the 3F-2T-2T to 3F-2T-2Lo?

If she does 3S3T and 3S3lo she won't be able to jump two 3F and two 3Lo.

I saw the landing of her flip in one of the recent shows and she is still leaning forward in the landing. :sad4:

I am ready for show season to be over and want her back at TCC working with Brian, Tracy and her choreographers.

I wish she worked with Ghislain too

Same :sad3: If her flip stays problematic, maybe she should change SP layout to 3Lo3T, 2A, 3F. Her loop is really solid and she's thrown a 3T on it in practice this season with no issue. Plus this could raise the BV ever so slightly by having 3F in the bonus (granted, possibly lower GOE)

I want her to be done with the shows too, but then again I will miss the content we get:(

The first time I saw her do that was at her last Europeans. In her AK program she moved her combo to the 2nd half because the first flip was too far forward. I also remember at her last Worlds where she won Tara L. said her flip was giving her issues in the warmup but then luckily she landed it in the program. Seems like it has been going on for a while. I wonder what the issue is.

I know, I saw it too. I wonder what causes this issues. :sad4:

I‘m looking forward to seeing her new exhibition first. We should be able to watch it tomorrow, right? But I agree, then I‘ll be ready for show season to end too, even if it means less content. But I can‘t wait to see the results of her work with the coaches at test skates!

What the Flip could be going on! :drama:

I think she has had issues with flip since she was injured.

This hurt to watch. Especially seeing these scary falls (the first one looked like her ankle just physically couldn’t absorb the landing and literally snapped) knowing she is injured and still having her drill those 3-3 combos. And it makes the mind spin again, this whole “what if“ is haunting.

I don‘t know what these issues are and why they are caused only on one jump. It‘s a bit confusing, her lutz was always the more problematic jump and it somehow wasn‘t affected by this at all? Is there a technician who can explain this? Anyway, I hope she‘s feeling fine now and can work on this with Brian, Tracy and maybe even Ghislain. She‘ll need a stable flip next season, in the SP and also to repeat it + the loop in the FS.

Edit: Also, we have only seen one flip so far during the show. A few weeks ago she did 3F+3T and there it looked fine. So, maybe we shouldn‘t worry so soon. She‘ll surely know that this is an area to work on in the summer and maybe has already started on it. Shows are a great way to try those jumps, because it‘s the only thing remotely comparable to competition regarding nerves. I think she‘s trying to fix it.

You're right, it's just a show and the most important thing is that Zhenya has recovered from her injury and has her jumps back.

It's really painful to watch Zhenya during the Olympic season :sad4: We've always known she was injured but it seems like we find out more and more how bad it was as time goes on. She really persevered through the Olys and gave us 3 beautiful performances but I just :( Her jumps really deteriorated from the previous season and it just makes me sad because they've never returned to peak form, and maybe if Oly season (and perhaps before) was handled differently, she wouldn't have had such regression on her jumps and spins that she's never recovered from. Sigh. Everything should've been different.

Honestly though, and maybe this is controversial, despite the lacking consistency, her jumps improved from the Oly season to this past season. Her jumps as Russian Cup and Worlds looked the best they've looked since 2017 Worlds, IMO. Bless Brian and Tracy (and everyone at TCC) for being able to get her on the right path. Now that she's grown, I don't expect her peak form to look the same as her peak form under Eteri, but it's just nice to see that she's able to jump without it looking so painful now. Unfortunately, I personally can't look back at the 2017-18 season without thinking so.

I didn't mean to type this much, all in all, I'm just really happy she's in a better place now. Even with current struggles she faces, and new ones she'll face in the future, I'm just happy she's on a better path now.

Come to think of it, she did that "touch the leg" thing that she does at 01:02 here back during the practice at Worlds 2017 too. It seems like it bothered her way before we realized it.

I get what you mean now. So where she is touching is where the fracture was? I kept hearing it was a metatarsal (toe) but then in that Japanese documentary she is pointing to the top of her ankle more when she is getting that treatment with that big machine.

She's pointing at it in one of the documentaries, if I'm not mistaken it actually is the metatarsal, i remember her kinda touching the area on the top of the foot 2-3cm away from the toes. But seeing as how she's wearing skates there, obviously can't touch that area directly.

I guess this is just a speculation then, but I think it holds water.

Bubble, what do you mean by handled differently?

And if Zhenya is on the right path as you say she is and in a better place as you say she is and its fair to believe that, what kind of results are you expecting from Zhenya this next season? or is it too soon to tell? Certainly there is reason for hope even though the competition will be stiff.

I mean if they would have seeked help for her injuries sooner, adjusted her training, adjusted her scheduled competitions, etc. Maybe things could've been different. For example, maybe if they would've caught her back injury sooner, and adjusted her training to go easier on it, maybe she'd still be able to do a biellman today. This wasn't meant to be accusatory, I'm not saying I KNOW there was mismanagement, I'm just saying that it feels like things could've been different, and it's just painful to think about because I wish it was.

As for having hope, I don't really know. I do think she's on the right path, but I didn't necessarily mean that I think she's going to win the next Olympics. I just meant I think she's on the right path to be the best she can possibly be at this point in her career. Of course there will still be struggles, but we saw her get stronger and stronger both mentally and physically this season. There may be some setbacks this summer because she spent some time off because of another injury, BUT I truly believe she'll continue to get better mentally, physically, artistically, and as a person. And if we're talking about her chances going forward- if she can continue to build on the momentum she built up at the end of last season, I think there will be more chances for her to compete again at the World stage. It's not certain, I don't know how likely it is, but I do think it's possible! And even if it doesn't happen, I think Zhenya has grown a lot as a person and will accept her results with grace and just keep working, not only because she wants to win (she definitely does) but also just because she loves what she does. (Sorry for the long reply lol :) )
