Right?? It’s infuriating how little support she’s getting... RusFed hasn’t helped her with her boot and Edea hasn’t either. Honestly this might be a whole PR disaster for Edea so it’s in their best interests to fix this as soon as they can. I’m just frustrated at why the universe is so unfair to her 😩

I can’t calm down for the FS either; it’s 7 jumps and since Zhenya rarely talks about pain, if her leg is hurting right now it must feel pretty bad. This just feels like a recipe for injury, and given how Zhenya has prioritized staying healthy, I would fully support her if she decided to withdraw after the SP.
 
At this point I kinda wish she’d withdraw from the FS but knowing her she’d probably keep skating even if her boot completely fell apart, so I’ll anxiously wish her all the best again for tomorrow. (Btw, Daniel Grassl got new boots between his SP and FS at JGPF and both parts of the competition didn’t go too well, so I don’t know if new boots would help her. I would assume it’s at least less dangerous to skate in new than broken ones? So I still hope they'll somehow manage to get her new boots that fit in time.)
 
What is the timing between practice and competition?

Is there a time gap?

I'm hoping maybe they'll get used to taping the boots and be better at it (the skill of taping) by tomorrow........

JGPF was in Italy and close to Edea's, a courier could have been dispatched and given a police escort even :-)

I think even in Moscow's best "Figurist" store not all top model boots are available from the shelves and could be flown in by courier at 4 figure cost. The suggestion of driving from Moscow to Krasnoyarsk in winter was even made, 4 hours flying means 4000 km of driving in winter conditions, crossing the Urals before entering Siberia, ridiculous suggestion. The fact that she was even able to acquire a pair from a Krasnoyarsk store at all is amazing.

I suspect she's worried she'll get crucified by the crazies if she withdraws.

The lace wrapped around worries me. They should go all out with some good tough tape.

I don’t think Zhenya is too bothered by the opinions of “the crazies” anymore. Just the fact that she was able to keep her nerves together today was nothing short of a miracle.

I just really really really don’t want her to get re-injured, especially since it’s the same foot that was broken during Olys. It’s not fair to her to have to revisit that emotional trauma.
 
I got to watch Zheyna’s performance now, I’m so freaking proud of this girl! What a fighter! But I’m also very worried about tomorrow, I don’t care about the score or which place she takes, I’m scared what if the boot falls apart completely considering how many jumps she’s about to perform... I don’t want her to get injured :( But I know both her and Brian are very smart and they wouldn’t risk her health

I understand your frustration, but unless you’re saying that the TP overlooked tech errors in the skaters ahead of Zhenya, I’m not sure I agree. Realistically, even if her PCS were a point or two higher, her TES here was 6 points lower than it was at Rostelecom because she was skating on broken boots. That’s a big gap to overcome. I think it’s a miracle that she did as well as she did under such adverse circumstances. By skating with such heart and grit and determination, she has demonstrated yet again why her fans love her and why the Russian Fed continues to support her. Remember last year? She was 14th after the SP with a score of 62 and made a brilliant comeback. With broken skates she may not be able to do the same here. This may not be her year to make the World Team. But the judges didn’t bury her here. Let’s wish her all the best for tomorrow and see what happens.

"I coped with my nerves - this is the most important thing. I coped with the fact that my knees and hands were shaking. Brian and I wrapped the boot with tape as much as possible.

After stanning for Zhenya during her most successful years, and through her most difficult times, I have to say I have never been more proud of her. Her pure perseverance and determination alone are remarkable, but on top of that she still skates with such skill, emotion and class. I see her already as a legend of the sport, and Ted said it so well during his commentary just before her SP, calling her "the lady who got it all started".

I just want her to stay healthy and keep skating for as long as she can. With or without super-difficult elements she always captivates me with her skating and I keep re-watching her programs the most. Sending all my love and positive thoughts :hap10:

And I'm so happy to see so many of you here keeping her fan-fest so active. I haven't posted in a long time... I was getting too passionate (aka stressed) during/after Olympics (oops).
 
I'm not going to discustting scores ... for me her having the courage to skate with broken boots and don't fall or getting hurting ... that's very difficult ... so for me her 5 is a victory ...

Yes, they did. Liza's 3T for example in her combo was UR in real time. It was not called.

I get what you are saying. I am not challenging Zhenya's scores. Yes, I was saying that those above her were over scored.

I am also not emotional about it. I think Zhenya should withdraw from the FS (and should have withdrawn from the SP), the risk of injury skating on a broken boot (on her landing foot) is high.

Okay, well, since new boots are not an option, please stay strong old boots!! (Kinda tragic since they're not actually "old".)
