I know russia is a very big big country but I can't belive that the maker of her boots can put a boot on aeroplane and delivery them in 24h to zhenya ... we are talking about one of the figure skating most known in russia ... probably wouldn't resolve the problem it self but would garantee no injuries ...
 
Ok, everyone seems to be overreacting a little. The RusFed were not going to force her to skate - especially after Zagitova’s ‘temporary break’, they know the problems with Eteri’s skaters longevity and Zhenya has proved she’s here to stay.Trust me, they’ll need her. They’re sportspeople as well.
Secondly, if Zhenya was pushing to skate, Brian was probably behind her supporting her decision. This was the important decision she needed to make and I hope she led it - it was a very mature decision to make. I know a lot of people were saying he should make the decision, but if he’s telling her to breathe in and breathe out, she may as well be with Eteri being treated like a child. She’s not, and I hope today reflected that.
It’s entirely sensible and understandable, it sounds like she’s had good communication with the RusFed all the way through so they know. Teams were a long shot this year so maybe it’s not a disaster.
Also! If her boots have deteriorated that quickly, yes there was probably a fault or a seriously dodgy fall, but ALSO guess what she’s probably been practising which strained the boot! (It’s a quad, if you hadn’t guessed). Her jumps this week (where she’s taken off) have looked stunning, she’s clearly in great shape, it’s just so annoying.
Also! Krasnoyarsk is bloody miles away from anywhere! It’s insanely far! It’d be faster to get them from Beijing than Moscow
It just seems like a bad situation that she’s made the best of - a clean short and a sensible long-term decision. She’s more than just this Nationals
 
Whaaaat is happening??? Gosh she should just make the decision to keep herself safe. Does she really have something to prove???

By the way, is it possible for her to just go out and perform with simple jumps? Would that be worse than not performing at all?

Rusfed should get the memo that an important event like rusnats should never be held in the middle of nowhere ever again.

And we'll zhenya hasn't withdrawn. She is again on the list

I thought that too .. for so rapid deteoration is because maybe she is practicing a 4 ..
 
I'm so confused...what a mess....poor Zhenya.
The athlete in her wants to compete, wants to NoT give up..but she really needs to WD to not risk any injury.
 
I’m not a fan of conspiracy theories but the situation is soo iffy, what even is going on?? First removing, then adding her to the list again? It looks like the Fed is either trying to force her to skate despite having decided not to, or trying to keep her from competing despite her wanting to. They shouldn't touch the schedule before the final decision has been made by Zhenya and only Zhenya herself.

Edit: And now removing her again? Oh dear.
 
Either way, I think Rusfed is playing against her. No matter what is going on. And Brian wouldn’t allow her to skate if it wouldn’t cost her something very important... we don’t know what’s going on in the backstages. What I do know is that Rusfed is totally corrupt. Look at Anna’s lutz, totally inside edge and was never called “e” again after Rusfed made that announcement. Zhenya is probably not that profitable for them anymore, and there’s probably more under the carpets that we don’t know, maybe even doping scandals that Zhenya may not want to be a part of. We don’t know. But I’ve been totally nervous and stressed out over the last two days because of this. Right now, I’m on a trip to the beach and my boyfriend is totally pissed at me because I’m stuck on my phone reading FS forums [emoji23]
 
Oh gosh I just watched her practice video. She couldn't even finish the combo spin. That boot must have suffered further damage. Such bad luck... No point in competing like that :(

The results page says she has WD (under final results), and Golden Skate tweeted it - I think she has WD...
