Wasn't Nationals in the middle of nowhere last year tor? Once in awhile the middle of nowhere is fine but it should alternate between St Petersburg Moscow Sochi and maybe Kazan as the big cities and then every fourth or fifth year do you go to a place like they are this year in the middle of freaking nowhere.

Edea will most likely want those cursed boots back and study what made them fail. But of course no pair of any new boots in exchange can replace this missed opportunity for Yevgeniya.
 
Boots were less than a month old:noshake:. I didn't cry after OG, didn't cry after her SP last year. Today, I did. Such a bad luck...

I can't believe her boots got worse but I guess it makes sense and it makes even more sense that she withdrew then. There's just so much to unravel here it's just unbelievable. zhenya it's probably like WTH She must feel like she's in the Twilight Zone.

Anyway I'm going grocery shopping I'll see you all later. I'm sure this thread will be another three or four pages long by then. ;)

Because no skater takes a replacement with them. Like Brian said they were just a few weeks old.
I think she just meant it as a saying like: things like that happen to everyone. It is out of our control.

I don't think she meant it literally that her boots like break every week. If you remember her crystal boots lasted months.

Well but last year's nationals were a lot nearer to moskau than this year. I mean this year it's literally in the middle of freaking now where. I just checked both locations out on Google maps . Why they ever got the thought that having the Russian nationals in the middle of now where was a good idea , I will never understand and really the people who decided on the location should get fired asap
 
Dedicating my 300th post to Zhenya and her amazing personality, strong character and insane determination. She had to go through so many hardships during her career already and is still standing, and she’ll keep standing (or skating rather, haha sorry I had to). Even if right now it looks like the Fed dropped her, I’m sure they’ll come crawling back to her when they need her again, and Zhenya will be there and she will be prepared and ready. She’s five years younger than me, yet I look up to her and can only hope to become at least 10% like her. She has her family, her coaching team and us to help her against all obstacles, like we did before and like we’ll keep doing.

I guess from now on she will take an extra pair with her although it's unlikely that such a drama will happen again.
 
Very glad to have information from her about her coming season plans, via Ted Barton at the resurfacing break - she will skate but not jump in Gala tomorrow, next Sept. Tests is when she'll compete again, until then she'll be healing and working on quads, new fs music will be Cirque du Soleil's Alegria - I feel more cheerful and settled already!

I appreciate that Zhenya has decided to take care of herself. The sadness in Zhenya's eyes hurts my soul.

For the next competitions she should take two pairs of boots but also a security guard who takes care of her boots, her suits and herself.

I m' sorry to say this but this situation is very rare. It's so rare what happened with her boot and her Federation couldn't get others. They clearly haven't wanted to help her.

They used her doing put her face in front of the IOC to go to Pyongyang and now they can't get her a pair of boots. Something is wrong there.
 
Zhenya's FS will consist of several compositions from Cirque du Soleils Alegria, however, the lyrics of the main song "Alegria" deserve to be looked at :)
