Evgenia Medvedeva

You are right quad sal! Do you think there is any chance that she learns the triple axel? I know Hanyu has a hard time with the double but can do a triple and almost a quad axel now[emoji54]

After Worlds, she said she tried to learn Triple Axel sometimes but she wasn't successful, so her coaches told her to practice quad salt because it was easier for her. But maybe later she would try again. Who knows.

And Hanyu is a skater from another planet. Land Triple Axel, almost Quad Axel. But as one of his coaches said a few days ago he can't land doubles

She's not going to be skating for any country other than Russia. Period. Imo, there are two possible motivating factors keeping her in the sport post-Pyeongchang:

1. The fact that she didn't get a chance to represent her country in the Olympics. It was her dream to stand atop the podium and sing the Russian anthem. She did not get that opportunity due to some unfortunate politics, and that might be something she wants to get back. Unfortunately, it seems that this is going to happen again,

2. The fact that she is not an Olympic champion. As one of the most accomplished skaters ever, Evgenia has basically won every other important title there is to win, some multiple times. The OGM would cement that legacy.
Third factor: She loves Figure Skating. Olympic is important but it is not everything.

There's no guarantee that she will even make it on the Olympic team if she moves to a country where the competition is at a high level. Canada is one of those countries. No, no, no. This is a terrible idea all around.

Current level Zhenya would make the Olympic team in every other country on this earth.

For the people who think she is not currently being judged/scored "fairly" (whatever that means in this sport), it will probably get much worse.
Why should it get much worse? While I think international scoring is bad, it´s nothing against Russian home competition. She is losing already the political game in Russia. Until today nobody could say why level 2 on the Spin, why PCS inflation by others and not by her, why GOE inflation by Eteri girls and not by others, why the TP ignores edges by the winner.

From Evgenia's standpoint, the potential benefits of this move must outweigh all of these negatives, and it must help her move closer to one of her main goals

Correct, she must decide. Bullying/hate should not be a factor in her decision. Fans are her fans because of Evgenia Medvedeva and not because she represents Russia. Just compare it to Tennis, only a small procent of the people are fans of Roger Federer because he represents Switzerland.

Zhenya arrived in Moscow! She was welcomed by fans with flowers :)

I know she wanted to start training 3A last year, but Brian told her that 4S was better for her. He's also mentioned 4T is okay for her too. However, this may be unpopular, but I think 3A would be the best option after 4S. Her 2A may still be a bit wonky in competition, but it's improved soooooo much. If some other ladies with tiny/wonky 2As can train a 3A, I don't see why Zhenya can't at some point.

XD Having a Twitter account and following many Russian Zhenya fan accounts certainly helps me to be so quick :P
Zhenya's Wizard of Oz show starts tomorrow 3PM Moscow time. She will have to work through the whole night! Tough girl!

I think Yuzu has a hard time with the 2A because his axels are so massive (speed and height wise) so he has a harder time controlling a "simpler" jump. I think Liza mentioned something similar when she was asked why she doesn't do a lutz-loop combo. She basically said her lutz is one of her most powerful jumps so it is harder to control.
I would love Zhenya to have a 3A but her axel, while improved, is still not her best jump. Its not realistic right now.
Now, I'm keeping my fingers crossed that that 4sal will work out for her. A 4toe will be awesome too. I believe Brian said her 4T attempts were also pretty good, so maybe she could work on it too.

The 3A is a very valuable jump because of the short program. Look what it's done for Aliona. I definitely think that she should at least try to learn it, concurrently with the 4S. Maybe she could even learn the 4Lo. Her loops are so beautiful.

Didnt Evgenia say in a meet & greet that she tried training 3A in a harness & her coaches went "Whooaa, no no". It was really off or something.

I have just seen the Olympic Karenina again and although I love Zhenya's performance, in addition to the improvements she has made, I realize the pleasure it gives me today to see her skating without feeling the noise of her blades. I really enjoy her current skating. Thank you TCC  What a pleasure!

Medvedeva told how the study of the quadruple jump

RT in Russian ,December 28, 2019

Russian figure skater Evgenia Medvedeva spoke about her progress in studying the quad jump.

“I have advanced in the study of quadruple jumps ... Progress is not going as fast as I would like, but there is progress. The time has come to improve ourselves, ”Medvedev said on the air of Channel One.

At the end of the previous season, the coach of 19-year-old Russian woman Canadian Brian Orser announced that she will study the quadruple salchow.
This season, the 19-year-old skater took second and fifth places at the Grand Prix in Russia and France, as well as second place at the Autumn Classic International Challenger in Canada and won the Shanghai Trophy tournament. Due to problems with skates, she was forced to withdraw from the Russian championship.
Earlier, Medvedev spoke about her plans for the near future.
