Evgenia Medvedeva

See my post above. She wore her old boots only for one show yesterday and also today. It is uncomfortable to skate in new boots for three shows a day so it is understandable that she wears her old ones for one show. Nothing to make drama about.

That sounds reasonable... But I also found some comments that she did jump in Edeas, I don’t know if it’s true, though

Yes, she is currently doing 3 shows per day and according to fans she wore her broken boots during the first show yesterday and then later wore the Risports for the other two shows yesterday. Her Risports are probably not completely broken in as it takes weeks, so it must be uncomfortable to skate three shows a day in new boots.

Ah! I didn't see this post.
That makes sense, I didn't know she was doing 3 shows a day.
I just don't want her to get hurt, or, people to make wrong assumptions of why she is able to skate on the show with the broken ones but not compete.
I have already seen way too many comments saying that the boot problem was just an excuse, that I got worried that they were going to continue this absurd narrative :(

The show is not a competition. She doesn’t need to make 7+ jumps in it. So you can’t compare a show with a competition, it’s absolutely not the same.

And she has 3 shows a day, so the new boots are causing blisters, I think it's the middle show with the old boots. I believe she is only doing a triple salchow. I agree it is not the same thing at all.

Looks like Zhenya could have a successful pairs career after she finishes her singles career (in her 30s)

Edit: Happy 28,000 posts to the best thread on this forum!

Zhenya and Nike will offer 6 training sessions at the Gorky Park in Moscow. Zhenya created a workout program for figure skaters together with Nike. Those training sessions will be on the 21st, 22nd (two sessions), 28th and 29th (two sessions) of January. Entry is free, but people have to register via Nike's website

That's great, but when will she be back training in Canada?

Interesting question, the FFKKR show is in late March, then there are shows booked in Japan in April, IIRC?

Then there is still a possible appearance in Tokyo 2020 OG as ROC ambassador, where incidentally Zagitova is also presumed to be present in some Shiseido capacity.

Lots of travel, most likely at the expense of the inviting party, still, tiring transcontinental travel nevertheless.

One supposes she rents her Toronto apartment by the month, all finished and furnished, which probably doesn't come cheap. When not in TCC, not paying for BOrser services either, perhaps other than a standby fee?

So probably in time for Test Skates, September 2020. How much time does an athlete like Medvyedeva need to get new programs staged, learn new elements in advance, etc? May, June, July, August?

Learning a 4S for a ~5 points increase in BV? She'll need excellent GOE and PCS to make this worth all the training efforts, if she doesn't want to pull a 'Tuktik' in her free skating run, right?

She has the Sailor Moon show in Japan and then the summer Olympics. She really is busy. Plus I was hoping she would do one senior B in Feb or March.

The show in April is in Taiwan not Japan and is for 3 days days from the 10th-12th April. Then she has her Sailor Moon Show in June in Japan (date is not set yet, maybe 1-2 weeks?), then the Tokyo Olympics in July. Zhenya and Brian already mentioned at the beginning of the season that they will make it possible for Zhenya to train during her time in Japan.
If you look at it, she has 3 weeks of training in January (probably at CSKA again until she is back in Toronto). The full February, full March except for the few days she has to go to Moscow for the ice show. Full April except a few days in Taiwan. Full May, then one show in Japan in June (maybe 1-2 weeks) then probaly half of June and half of July free for training and then the Tokyo Olympics for two weeks from the end of July until the 9th of August, where she can also train and 3 full weeks in August. So she has a lot of time to train and prepare, last season she got her SP already choreographed in April, now she can probably get her programs even sooner.

A Quad added to her program is around 7 points more in BV, because then she can do three 3x3 combos, so yes, it is worth it. She already got 225 as a SB this season, if she can land a 4S she will get around 234 if clean and depending on the GOE. If she then adds her new spin positions (which she is doing at Aver's shows) and keeps on working on them it will maybe increase her GOE on spins and will maybe make different spins with higher BV possible as well.

Maybe Zhenya is planning to re-use her short program from this season. I think she only skated it about five times. That would save time and money. She wouldn’t have to pay for new choreography or a new dress. Plus, that program is a really good program for her and I feel like it never reached its full scoring potential this season.

Zhenya seems like a fast learner with choreography though, so maybe she is getting two new programs.
