I didn’t get the chance to post here because I’ve been busy with work. Happy (belated) birthday to the most amazing woman in sports, Zhenya Medvedeva. Figure skating would be so much different without her. She added so much life to sport and brought so many people in. She pioneered a new wave of champions. As far as I’m concerned, there’s no one more influential than her. She has an amazing story, and an amazing career, she’s given us so many amazing moments and so many things to enjoy. And yet, she’s only 21. There’s so much more to come! It’s been so touching to see the outpouring of love from her fans, peers, colleagues, officials; the world of skating adores her. I hope we will all keep following her and celebrating her amazing career and life for many years to come :love:

Yes, they look amazing. I once baked Sailor Moon cookies inspired by Zhenya. It was so much work though :drama: also they were not the prettiest. My cakes and cookies taste great (according to friends and family), but they sure aren't the most beautiful, I am not talented enough for that :D

I wasn't able to find Zhenya's performance in the yellow dress on youtube though, just the much more famous Sailor Moon program she skated at the same event.
 
Bad news :(

Evgenia has tested positive for Covid and has been in quarantine.

"First, the skater passed one negative test, then two more, which showed that the disease had passed. However, Medvedeva still had symptoms, so she once again passed tests. As a result, it turned out that the coronavirus did not pass. Now the athlete is in quarantine."

Rumours also say that eteri may also be positive, but for now it's just rumours.
 
I think Evgenia has been in quarantine the past few weeks already. So I hope the worst has already passed. Rumours in forums about her started 1-2 weeks ago and Zhenya also stopped posting photos of herself outside around Nov 4th and has also been missing in videos and photos at Sambo since then, Lilbet shot a video last week (uploaded a few days ago) and refused to answer comments asking where Zhenya is (already back then people thought Zhenya may be in quarantine and Lilbet was trying to protect her privacy). Since after Nov4th Zhenya only posted things from inside her home, so I think she already did her 2 week quarantine. Considering that Zhenya declared she wants to go to the 5th Cup a few days ago, also makes me think she has been well for some time and is just waiting for the quarantine to pass. Keeping my fingers crossed.

I hope you are right. Which means her quarantine should be almost over , if that is the case

Oh no 😢 I really hope it’s not a severe case, I wish her a speedy recovery!
 
She is an athlete, healthy and strong and has to weather the infection out, sitting in quarantine, trying to remain in shape and not die of boredom.

But it has been said skaters, skiers, biathlonists and other wintersports athletes that usually train and compete in cold and dry air have a certain susceptibility to throat, breathing tract and lung infections?

So we must hope for the best in her, and in the other skaters, coaches and training staff.
 
well, the girl needs a break from problems so I hope isn't real. The news in english doesn't make a lot of sense .. gives the feeling that she was already positive and they are doing testing if she was negative but because she kept the symptons they tested her again... what doesn't make sense is that se saying that she as probably going to 5th stage if she was in quarantine
 
Many of those 'quick' test have a high false positive or even worse, false negative rate, and cannot be trusted. The proper test depends on qualified laboratory evaluations and can take days to get your result back?
