I stopped following the thread about how GP assignments are given so I don't know if anyone answered your question. Here's an interesting link to the USFSA on how it's done.

Thanks mPal - I should visit the usfsa website more often. I was particularly concerned why Bebe got only one assignment. The USA (and the Japanese) just have too many talented skaters in their stables and cannot accomodate them all.
