I did think the character work was improved, but omg I felt bad the rink was a little tiny and you could tell they felt cramped about two steps into that step sequence!

And it's interesting what they said there about how such chemistry is created - that it tends to shine through in teams who've worked together for most of their lives. Looking at the teams who've been working together since childhood or their early teens (P/C, the Shibutanis, D/W, V/M etc), I think that's most often true*. Things can be different in pairs, though oftentimes the longer a team's been together there the more they'll grow and shine, but in dance where everything is so subtle, it seems that to be the best of the best you really need that lifelong knowledge of each other and comfort with each other on display out on the ice.
*Not always, but more often than not. G/P and F/G are good examples of teams with less longevity but tons of chemistry who are making an impact right now, but they're still not on the same level, though G/P are getting closer each year.

The first quote I think Gabi is saying the "stars aligned" when they began skating together
In the second quote Romain said "they have brought a youthful touch, an artistic stroke and people are captivated to see them skate, it goes beyond sport"
