Gabriella Papadakis & Guillaume Cizeron

Oh.....my....God!!!! :hap57:I couldn't breathe... :bow: :bow:They were amazing! Perfect in everything! I'm sure they are great dancers on the floor, too! So mooth, so elegante! They are my absolute favorites!!!!

Totally agree! They are special, perfect physique, techniques, etc… I want them to dance ballet! I can’t express enough how I love them.
Further, her costume! Who's their costume maker? Anyway, over all, absolutely out of this world!

Yep, I was quite nervous during the last group of Ice dance but when Gabriella and Guillaume started their FD, then the magic happened after a few seconds... C'était genial !

Thanks again for your report! It’s precious to hear the audience there. It really was magical moment.. You are a lucky guy!

BTW, does anyone know what French Commentator said? I’ve watched British Euro and they just got excited!

Guillaume designed their costumes for this season.

Just know that Guillaume designed the costumes but don't know about the maker. As a journalist said in the french news, "beautiful simple costumes with no sparkles"... Indeed they don't need it to shine !!
For the French comments, Montfort/Candeloro/Dumont didn't make so much useful comments, just saying it was superb, perfect and waaaaay ahead of the other couples, but I must say their chatting spoiled me a bit the moment. :scowl:
More interesting from French Eurosport with Alban Préaubert and Nathalie Péchalat: They highlight the beautiful softness of the program, making totally forget the difficulty. Nathalie say their skating is like a breath, it takes us with them, we forget the skates and just admire dancing. They talk about one of the best moments of the European if not the best. Nathalie hence the fact that this year, they have a music maybe less accessible, and that they only rely on their quality, they are not "carried" by the music like some said last year "the music makes a lot of the job", it's actually their talent that allows them to win, whatever music they choose. They say everything is beauty in this program. Nathalie just add in the end that to have something to improve they could add more visual lifts, something that would stuck in minds, because here, it's a lot of feelings that come out, more than images.

Thanks! That simple costumes make them look more refined and chic…
Nelson wasn’t there! (He’s talkative, isn’t he?)

Nathalie! I am a big fan of PECHALAT / BOURZAT! (their costumes also are always fine!). I can’t agree more with her description.
Further, her statement about music hit the nail on the head. I can’t count the number of times I’ve watched their FD last year. I loved that performances (EURO, World) more than anything. However, one of the reasons I love this program might be that I love that Mozart piece from way back. On the contrary, this year, both music isn’t so impressive for me (though SD music is my favorite), but I can’t help but repeat and repeat both SD and FD… What’s present is their marvelous skating… Beautiful man and woman… it’s picture perfect…

PECHALAT / BOURZAT always made unique lifts..
Considering of her condition after the injury, there's some room for their improving. They may get more PCS at World!

Thank you.

Interesting my husband isn't a Fs fan, but he watched the competition with me yesterday ( he read his lap top at the same time ;) ). I said him must to watch this pair. After he also said they skated in great harmony, they made everything so easily totally forget the difficulty... :yes: I answered him you are such an expert! :cool2: But he was right!

Talkative is actually a kind word, but maybe I wouldn't mind if at least he had something interesting to say... At some point of the competition I was watching it on a Russian stream and suddenly, we heard Nelson's voice, I thought it was a nightmare ! :palmf:

Péchalat/Bourzat have always been the best dressed of their era in my opinion. :love:

Back on topic, today during the gala, Annick Dumont found the exact word to describe GG, "irreal".... :points:

Talking about the costumes...

D'int expect to see Gabriella and Guillaume wearing costumes adorned with spangles ! That will NEVER happen imHo.

As stylist and designer, I'm sure Guillaume has a different and modern approach... I guess he wants the costumes to match with the story they are telling and fit with the choreography. I would bet that Guillaume wants the Costumes to be class by design and not class by added spangles.

I had never actually watched them perform before the FD yesterday. OMG, that was a beautiful program. If someone has to beat the Shibs, then they are my pick. And Cizeron is just a gorgeous skater. I've never been so entranced by a male ice dancer before!

Guillaume is a gorgeous skater, that's right but I would also add he is a stunning dancer! That makes such a huge difference with the other male ice dancers, especially when considering the role of the man to drive the dance and dictate the rhythm . BTW, he's also a brilliant gymnast.

Well, if you put all of this together, you understand why he's imHo the best male ice dancer so far.

This FD has surpassed last year's Mozart for me. I didn't think I could love any FD more that Mozart's but here you go, unbelievable. Now, I hope they'll be able to keep their focus, not let it go to their head and deliver another stunning performance at Worlds. And if not, I actually don't care cause they already gave us such a great moment yesterday.

what we have
Shibutanis U.S. Nationals :
SD : 74.67
FD : 115.47 (58.89 and 56.58)
Total = 190.14

W/P : in Canadian National championships
Sd : 76.20
FD : 115.53 (57.03 and 59.50 with a -1 deduction)
Total = 191.73

C/B
SD : 75.14
FD : 111.79 (55 and 56.79)
Total = 186.93

P/C :
SD : 70.74
FD : 111.97 (56.24 and 55.73)
Total = 182.71.

So if we see these score, P/C is only 4th :disapp:
They must really work their SD if not there will be so much point to catch in the FD.

What is Cizeron's background? He moves like a dream across ice. I've never seen anything like it.

Comparing national and international results does not give a meaningful picture of the situation as scores given National Championships are completely overrated. The true comparison is to take the scores from the Grand Prix final and compare them to the Europeans.

Hi! This is my first post here. I've never been interested in Ice Dance until I saw Gabby and Guillaume.:love: I think they are real ballet dancers, they do everything so effortless, I can't take away my eyes from them.
With the scores in the previous post, I think it's more accurate take account the scores from GPF than the nationals, cause the domestic inflation. The GPF scores:
W/P ( SD:72.75 FD: 109.9)
C/B (SD : 71.64 FD: 105.91)
S/S (SD : 69.11 FD: 105.81)

So seeing this, they aren't 4th. Sorry for my bad english:slink:

Welcome julietta, you're right about the scores. W/P and P/C are really close. P/C do need to work on the SD. They also can get better PCS in their FD cause it could have been higher IMO in Europeans.

Hi JuliettaG, your English is perfect! Thank you for the GPF scores.

Indeed, P/C have all their chances for a second World title. Nationals results do not count (including PBs that are not recognized).

Just like Gabriella said in the French TV video, they proved that it's not last year FD that made them European champions in 2015, but themselves.
I agree very much. They're unique, and showed that despite loosing a few months of preparation, they still belong to the top.:agree:

For obsessive people like me, I collected the different version of their FD. I just like hearing the different commentaries so those are what I found so far:
French Eurosport ( Nathalie Pechalat commentating)
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HqUWoExWVdw&list=PLA-24ZgkivBR_U4aiEvnUXTfluR_gFw3L&index=1

French TV channel, France 2 (I warn you commentaries a bit irritating, Nelson Monfort, Philippe Candeloro)
http://www.dailymotion.com/video/x3...ions-d-europe-pour-papadakis-et-cizeron_sport

NBC (tara lipinsky, Johnny Weir)
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=27xRvQod078

Universal HD (ben agosto I think)
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4qi22DDGuN4

I didn't put the russian, brits or spanish ones because they're quite popular so I guess those links have been shared already.

I will add an amateur video from their practice in the morning, it's a bit blurry at the start but then it's OK. For some reason, it cracks me up to see the italians looking at P/C skating. I don't know if they were nervous but they definitely look intrigued.
