Gabriella Papadakis & Guillaume Cizeron

For obsessive people like me, I collected the different version of their FD. I just like hearing the different commentaries so those are what I found so far:
French Eurosport ( Nathalie Pechalat commentating)
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HqUWoExWVdw&list=PLA-24ZgkivBR_U4aiEvnUXTfluR_gFw3L&index=1

French TV channel, France 2 (I warn you commentaries a bit irritating, Nelson Monfort, Philippe Candeloro)
http://www.dailymotion.com/video/x3...ions-d-europe-pour-papadakis-et-cizeron_sport

NBC (tara lipinsky, Johnny Weir)
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=27xRvQod078

Universal HD (ben agosto I think)
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4qi22DDGuN4

I didn't put the russian, brits or spanish ones because they're quite popular so I guess those links have been shared already.

I will add an amateur video from their practice in the morning, it's a bit blurry at the start but then it's OK. For some reason, it cracks me up to see the italians looking at P/C skating. I don't know if they were nervous but they definitely look intrigued.

Thanks for all the links! I definitely want to hear Natalie and Johnny's comments on it.
I haven't watched it yet, but I'm ready to bet the Italian couple were curious. P/C are their most dangerous rival in the European field and they're no fool, they know better than thinking they pose no threat just because they lacked training and competition time this season. ;)

Nathalie just add in the end that to have something to improve they could add more visual lifts, something that would stuck in minds, because here, it's a lot of feelings that come out, more than images.

Euh... What about this stunning flying kiss which was everywhere in the worldwide headline news last year?
That was a fantastic lift combined with a spin with Gabriella flying in the air while kissing Guillaume.
This is imHo one of the most beautiful visual lift of the ice dance history.

Not really surprising when thinking it was inspired by Angelin Preljocaj

Indeed. I think by visual she also meant a kind of spectacular. Like the "Pyramid" she did with Bourzat or the acrobatic lifts that produce the North American teams. Something that has a direct wow factor. But I don't think they need it, the Wow comes from the whole thing, and some crazy complicated lifts sometimes ruin more the program than anything else.

France Television nice report on Gabriella and Guillaume:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ya5JUdUpd5k

Some translations below:
-------------------------------

-------- First reaction

Guillaume: "The pressure was much more intense than I expected but we made the job"

-------- During the practice

Romain Haguenauer: "Too long... He rotated once too often. He rotated 7 times"

Romain Haguenauer to Gabriella: "In the turn, you were a bit too fast and Guillaume a bit slow hence you ended up a bit behind him"

Romain Haguenauer to Gabriella & Guillaume: "was also nice that you did not drag before starting the spin so the spin got faster when the music changed and that's great."

-------- Just before the FD

Romain Haguenauer: "Stay in your bubble. You did it so many times. It must be class from start to end"

-------- Once the FD is over

Romain Haguenauer; "Wowww... It was class... It was wonderful"

Gabriella: "We are so so so happy we managed to perform it like that. Scoring almost the same as we scored last year at the Worlds for our first international competition... It's incredible"

-------- After the medal ceremony:

Gabriella: "We have proven that we could reiterate the "miracle". We did not become European Champions last year because of our program. We demonstrated that we won because of us"

Then you can see Gabriella in the arms of Marie-France Dubreuil.

Last but not least, Mr Cizeron gives a hug to his son. You can see the happiness on his face. What a beautiful image !

As I'm rewatching this group 4, P/C came right after Bukin and Stepanova. What's crazy is they have the same age and B/S beat them to win the 2013 Junior world championship. And now, look where both teams stand. Quite unbelievable.

i know it's an old interview from romain but i think it's very interresting.
http://www.mag2lyon.com/m-3161--pat...t-pas-gagne-s-ils-etaient-restes-a-lyon”.html

He said he was really surprised by their title in WC 2015. Six months ago, He never imagined such a success. In December, Gabriella and Guillaume had 20 points off the top. So he knew they had the potential, but in the longer term because they were very young, 19 and 20 years.

He started working with them when they were 13-14 years. They lived in Clermont and had internships during the school holidays. Then four years ago, they came to live in Lyon to train here. Gabriella studied also literature and Guillaume Beaux Arts.

What are their strength?
What makes the difference in our sport is the knee. Their knee is powerful and flexible, which is very rare. The knee allows them to go twice as fast as the others. And especially not to show the effort to have a very fluid dance.

He said in Lyon they only can train between 6 to 9 am, then 12 to 2 pm.

I think, it's also a reason of their improvement.

I remember the brits commentators regularly mentioning last season the softness of their knee and their great knee bend. Of course, training full time play a great deal in their improvement, they also keep mentioning the superb facilities in Montreal. I think everything aligned at the right time and they do have that elusive it factor in spades.

I did this video the other day (at first I wanted to put the music on a Yuzu program but everytime I listened to the music I kept picturing Gabriella and Guillaume's SD)
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=k5SF0D3OQGw

Nice work, fits quite well with their SD. From you youtube account, I can see you uploaded practice videos from last GPF. Did you go ? If yes, what were your impression on the top dance teams. Especially, it's quite difficult behind a screen to get a sense of speed, ice coverage and emotional projection to the public.

I did but I missed some of the ice dance practices so I didn't see everyone.

But my impressions were that I know people say C/L are slower than W/P for exemple but it didn't gave me that feeling. They all felt faster than on screen but in term of emotional projection I got the same feelings from all the team that I get through the screen :) Although I was a bit more engaged with W/P than I usually am for their FD. The Shibs felt slower during their FD, you could feel that they weren't at their best form and it made sense once we kenw about Alex's food poisoning but they were still very good. For C/B I saw them live in 2014 too there and their program last season grabbed me more than this year. I admit I didn't really paid attention to the ice coverage so I can't really comment on that ^^". I think the big difference between the live and through screen for me is that you can feel if there's a slight tension in the air or in the skaters more than on TV.

(about the GPF 2014, i need to dig to see if I filmed the ice dance because I reall can't remember ^^")
