Gabriella Papadakis & Guillaume Cizeron

I am absolutely sure that info about new program is a total fabrication.
That person, who started that rumor, also writes that in Bratislava P/C showed their old program with old elements, just with new music. :palmf: a real moron!
I want to add, that he is absolutely not trustworthy, has scandalous reputation, and on some russian figure skating forums it is even forbidden to give links on his so called articles.
I think you are right about him on the last part, but I want to add that it is not even fabricated information, as he doesn't present it as such. As I said, it's just an expression, his opinion on their programs which apparently some people with not very good knowledge of Russian language translate in the wrong way. I must add that I am not defending him, as I don't agree with him at all.

Some people may have not gotten the irony in his words but those people are definitely Russian speaking ones. Just for your information, lauravvv.

Thanks lauravvv for the translation.
I fully agree with Iris81 and cocotaffy, that person may try to bash P/C...

Now, please watch this video starting from the 3rd minute...

Gabriella replies to the FranceTV journalist and actually explains they demonstrated (in Bratislava) they did not win last year because of their FD program but because of "them" (meaning their skating skills, their connection on the ice, etc). Please look to the reaction of Guillaume... I found it very interesting the first time I watched this video. Guillaume is usually shy but I have the feeling he's trying to tell Gabriella there's no point to justify themselves to such stupid criticisms. That's the way I understood it the first time I watched it and, assuming I understood it correctly, I think Guillaume is totally right. Gabriella and Guillaume are so talented. They are THE target. They should simply ignore stupid comments!

They are an exceptional couple, with them you only see a dance not the mere stringing together of elements. They will understand with time that this will bring out the detractors and hecklers. In due time they'll be so accustomed they won't even blink an eye.

cocotaffy;1368364. The lift could change in SD too because they do the same one in the FD. The lift fit well at the end of the FD but they do need to impress the judges a bit more on the SD. The main top teams have a classical SD which seem to go down well with the judges and P/C's weakness has always been the SD so far. They need to not have such a big lag after the SD like last year's worlds where they were 4th because W/P is stronger this year IMO. And let's not forget Worlds are in Boston with a strong Shibs team with load of home support said:
You're right cocotaffy.
This is exactly what they need to do.They really do not want to be in third or fourth place in the SD.I would like to see a different lift in their SD different to their FD one. They made changes before Euros so I'm sure they will do so again.
W/P have a very strong SD so do C/L .

Yes C/L too, I forgot. Basically, all top teams have a strong SD. I do love P/C's SD though, it's so different from the teams which will most probably make it to the final group at Worlds. Last year, their SD received
It will be tight at Worlds. Let's not forget B/S who are coming back strong after their great FD performance at Euros. Not so sure about their SD but they did get close to 69 so with a bit of work who knows !!! Somehow, I still believe the last group will be W/P, C/L, C/B, S/S and P/C provided no one has a major failure on the twizzles. Gaby was a bit shaky in the SD at Euros but I guess it was just nerves of participating in their first international competition. In the FD, their twizzles were really good and they got a good GOE.

EDIT: I made a mistake in my previous post, it was there Partial step sequence which got level 3 not a diagonal one.

OK,

First, thanks to cocotaffy for the links

Now, just a short status summary of the season prior to the Worlds in Boston (I think I did not make any mistake):

SD+FD
1 P/C 182.71 (Europeans)
2 W/P 182.66 (GPF)
3 S/S 181.62 (4-C)
4 C/L 178.01 (Europeans)
5 C/B 177.55 (4-C)
6 B/S 176.50 (Europeans)

FD
1 P/C 111.97 (Europeans)
2 W/P 109.91 (GPF)
3 S/S 108.76 (4-C)
4 B/S 107.79 (Europeans)
5 C/B 107.59 (4-C)
6 C/L 106.23 (Europeans)

SD
1 S/S 72.86 (4-C)
2 W/P 72.75 (GPF)
3 C/L 72.31 (Europeans)
4 C/B 71.54 (4-C)
5 P/C 70.74 (Europeans)
6 B/S 68.71 (Europeans)

All couples performed their SD and FD in 4 different international (not national) competitions, meaning two GP, the GPF and either Europeans or 4-Continents except P/C who performed their programs only in 1 int'l competition, i.e. Europeans.

Thanks for the summary, results are really close for the top teams. Worlds will be to crazy for me to watch live, I won't be able to stand the pressure. I'll wait to know the results I think :palmf:

Other news, what do you all think of their soon to be new training partner in Montreal ? the infamous V/M. Not to thrilled about it from a fan viewpoint. Now, all I hope is it'll fuel them so much they will improve leaps and bounds as such a fast speed, they'll give V/M a run for their money.:dev2:

Regarding Worlds, I don't expect it will be too close between the first two couples. Now that we know all programs and performances, I am convinced that P/C will win with approx 186 or 187. In second place, I must say I am not sure but I guess W/P and S/S will be 2nd and 3rd (or vice versas). Of course, I assume that all couples will perform their programs without major issue such as falls.

As for V/M, I have no clue about their return and training in Montréal but it will be interesting for P/C to train next to them.
Honestly, I do not fear anything in particular with V/M. The point is that Guillaume is such a fabulous dancer, he's the best male ice dancer and by far in the world. He has no real challenger imHo and thinking he keeps on improving year after year... Well, anything he does on the ice is breathtaking. I don't even know what to say more! As for Gabriella, she is mentally very strong and so talented. Both are together since they were kids and this long experience they have as ice dance couple is a huge advantage. Their connection on the ice is unique. They know each other like brother and sister.

Yes, they announced yesterday they'll train with Dubreuil and Lauzon and if I'm not mistaken David Wilson.

I hope they'll win Worlds 😊 But I think I won't be able to watch in live too... I love them they're unique Guillaume AND Gabriella 😍

Fully agree with you.

When I was in Bordeaux for TEB in November, all kinds of pessimistic rumours were ongoing about the health of Gabriella. Someone even told me that, given the situation, Guillaume would probably have to find another partner and such news sounded completely terrible to me. It was simply unbelievable to imagine Guillaume w/o Gabriella and vice versas. Fortunately, I met and talked to Madison Hubbell and Zach Donohue who gave me good and reliable news about Gabriella's health. Both Gabriella and Guillaume contribute with their own strengths to the success. In Ice Dance, if the male dancer is not a true dancer then his partner has difficulties to shine. With Gabriella and Guillaume, both of them shine. Actually, they are just one on the ice moving and flying together. It's so magical.

The results at World will be tight, I think, but Gabriella and Guillaume have what it takes to keep their World title. :agree2: One thing for sure, the competition will be intense.

To be honest, I think V/M return will have a positive effect on them. It often give motivation to train among talented skaters, and V/M are great champions. :)
Moreover, I remember that V/M have praised Gabriella and Guillaume last year after their results at World.

My imo : if P/C can improve their SD and don't have much 1 point late, they will win (of course with nobody do a major mistake). But, judges could be influence by the audience.
It will not be easy to skate after Shibu. I also think it will not be easy to skate after P/C.

About V/M, it's a real motivation for these two team to train "together". I'm not afraid the come back of V/M on the contrary, it will push P/C to work harder and i'm sure they will improve faster than what i expect
my only fear it's I hope there will be no favouritism. They can manage to control all the ego.

Fortunately I have not heard this rumor ... when I look at them I feel they were born to skate together, to laugh together. Last year I went to see them during the tour of the France team, they skated their second program with laughter and it lasted a long time .... It was too cute

I saw Gabriella and Guillaume training together in Montréal and that was really amazing. They were so different compared to the other couples training at the same time on the rink. Gabriella and Guillaume were just like kids having fun and joking together and in the same time, they were totally focused on the performance and the excellence. I like what you say "They were born to skate together". I would even replace the word "skate" by "dance" as I quickly forget they skate!

Yeah... Gabriella and Guillaume were born to dance together on a frozen floor with warmth and passion. They are destined to be one of the greatest couple of the ice dance history.

I have watch all the practice videos i Bratislava and what stroke me the most was how they are focused on their own performance. You can see all the other couples on the ice checking out the competition esp. P/C  But P/C never seem to check anyone and not because they're above it all, but just because they dance for themselves and to create a moment with the audience. So, they will be fine because they don't let the outside pressure get easily to them even though you could see relief on Guillaume's face when they retain their Euro title. They also have complete faith in the trainer Romain and as long as he's firmly on their side, it'll be OK.
