GPF Videos on Youtube

Maybe we should get rid of Ice dancing from the Olympics. It's almost impossible to judge ice dancing fairly and too many scandals.

scandals schmandals....
win or loose just perform and i'm happy

Oksana Domnina is a great skater--she has some of the best basics in ice dancing, male or female.

However, ice dancing is a TEAM sport. Maxim needs to work on a lot of the basic skating to become even better, to be true world champions in April. He needs to match her stroke for stroke--during their stepline sequence, there were moments when he was behind her, and you can see that in the angle on the video--he is about two feet behind her.

The final change rotation lift was scary--he looked wobbly (as slutskaya fan has already pointed out). If you watch the slow-motion replay, you can see him digging into his toe picks during the rotational lift, which is a sign of BAD technique. He is supposed to rotate on an edge, not dig into his toe picks.

I am for dance teams that do an equal amount of work--when not lifting or spinning or doing side by side twizzles and sequences, Narcissa Malfoy does almost all the work, while Severus Snape supports her.

I am, however, glad that she no longer looks like a wedding cake.

Good lord the speed she gets is quite impressive. Asada skated that program with attack and power, there was a fire to it, I like it (paraphrasing a quote from DB describing MK) IMO Asada is an incredible athlete no evidence of baby ballerina here.

I agree. Her athletic quality sparkles in this performance.

won my heart hahaha....this is a historic program...not specifically this one..but the program in general...if done well...like worlds last year...i think?
amazing skater
There is no skater in the world today that could duplicate Stephane's Flamenco. I believe his contribution to the choreography is what makes it special. It's not just the Flamenco, it's his entire body which is dancing throughout and to the music. It's not cardboard dancing as some others do and whom I will not mention (avoiding cans of worms).

Kurt Browning also has the dancing body as well as the dancing feet. It's rare in figure skating.

I know posters never talk about over rotations but that has been his problem with the 3A and if you look close at the landing, that's it in the youtube slomo.

Is that Caroline? LOL. I didn't even recognize her. That's the third gala costume of the season, isn't it? She looks like a young Sasha, maybe also Mirai.

I'm looking for the end number of the gala where the skaters come out for the final group number and final bow. Any chance of anyone posting it on YouTube?

I have to say that Lambiel's exhibition was one of the most stunning performances I've EVER seen! Oh my gosh, that was angst done with about as much beauty and emotion as a person could possibly extrude.
I can't remember the last time I saw a skater giving it their all and just letting their heart lie bare before an audience the way Stephane did in that program. I didn't think I could love his skating more but this program just made that possible. Simply transcendental.
