The title is interesting. I feel that there will be many memoirs coming that publishers encourage to have the same type of title as I'm Glad My Mom Died. The thing I most want for Gracie's book is for it to sell very well and NOT be full of ice-princess answers. Dang, I hope she can heal from what she went through.
She's no princess. She's a full on Queen.

I think she first wore this costume in the 2020-2021 season at Skate America and Nationals, so I wouldn’t say that was from the dark times really.

My impression is that she has been busy with Road to Gold until August, and that she just started focusing on preparing for the new season. There is an interview mentioned earlier in this thread that confirms this. Also she was observed with a cast on her foot earlier this spring, so she may have used the time to heal as well, aside with working on the camp and also perhaps on her book.

I don´t see the harm on starting with preparations late. Season is long so there is no need to rush into summer competitions before she is ready. Gracie has been in this game for long and might have another approach in the off season. If she is skating for herself, she might not put her whole life into skating anymore, but have a better balance. Therefore no need to do intensive training camps in summer.

In the end of every season you see skaters who are tired out and underperforming. Some peak early in the season, and get tired in the end.

So i´m not worried if she just started preparations.

While I agree with you that there's no harm starting the season later, as far as I know, she will not have a bye to sectionals or Nationals as she hasn't been assigned enough (any) internationals for the upcoming season. This means she will need to compete in the NQS series to qualify. There are still a few more competitions in September and the beginning of October. I believe you can do 2 competitions to try and qualify.
I haven't really heard anything about Gracie recently. I know the articles point to her wanting to compete, so hopefully we will see her on the entry lists for one of the upcoming competitions:
Golden West September 1-3
Skate Houston September 1-4
Mid Atlantics September 8-10
Skate St. Moritz September 9-10
Broadmoor Fall Classic September 21-24
Texas Trophy October 4-6
LA Autumn Classic October 5-8
Boston Open October 5-8
So while there are a decent number of competitions left, many of them overlap. Also, as far as I know, she wasn't at Champs Camp this year. This makes sense because she hasn't done any summer comps and isn't assigned to internationals. I'm hoping it's just because she had a late start to the season, seemed to be injured (seen in the walking boot) in the Spring, etc. Either way, I hope she's happy in whatever she has decided to do!

Yes of course, I had the qualifying rounds in mind. There are limited amount of competitions. For some reasons I thought they had one as late as November as well. Last one in early October is very early. She has made it to Nationals the previous season, so i´m having my fingers crossed she will manage to do so. If not, she is maybe pleased with just skating otherwise.

@moonvine did mention something about Gracie having funding this season? As far as I know this is the first time in years she has it, i´m not sure how that could help her but perhaps it gives at her at least some international assignments?

I believe that Sectionals are in November. You actually have to qualify to Sectionals from the NQS competitions in July-October. Last year, Gracie did not have to compete at Sectionals because she had 3 Internationals, so she got a bye to Nationals.

I mean the entry deadlines for most of the competitions have passed, so she’s most likely already registered if she’s competing or she’s not competing.

I thought she would be assigned to Internationals because she's in the ISP. I thought all ISP skaters went to Champs Camp.

I believe she also had C funding the year that Covid only allowed US skaters (and Keegan and I think someone else who trained in the US) to compete in Skate America. I don't think C envelope is a lot. Fortunately she has sponsors.

You know, I'm pretty sure all us Danny O'Shea fans were sure he was going to retire last year. I'm not sure when he and Ellie announced their partnership, but I know it was later in the year than this. USFS sent them to two Challengers. They did not have to skate the NQS events. I don't see a reason she should have to either. Why put her in the ISP if they aren't going to give her assignments? She was an alternate for 4CCs last year.

yes she does have C team funding, although i'm not sure how that works with how many international assignments she gets/doesn't get. for context, Clare Seo and Soho Lee are also in C team.
And Claire Seo got an international assignment. Not sure about Soho. I don't follow the ladies much.
