Gracie Gold

:ghug: I watched every other skate from Japan Open and then was going to watch her last. I couldn't even get all the way through it. We keep waiting for her to come back next time, and I'm starting to fear that it won't happen. I'm afraid if she's reading Twitter, etc., it's just really had a terrible effect on her. I'll still be there cheering her on at Skate America, but it almost seems like maybe it's going to take a little magic or voodoo or something! :handw:
Ooh, how exciting! Wish her luck for us.

Re Twitter: agreed. Perhapa someone should Tweet her this:

DO NOT READ MEAN TWEETS. THOSE PEOPLE ARE TROLLS. THEY DO NOT LIKE YOU. THEY WILL UPSET YOU. DON'T FEED THE TROLLS. DON'T READ THE TWEETS.

I'm so grateful for this fan page. All the negative comments about Gracie in the other threads, even when she skates well, are wearisome and sometimes seem mean spirited. (I suspect many of those are by uber Ashley fans, which I am not among). I was relieved and happy to see such warm support for Gracie here after her performance at JO, so thank y'all!;). (I've so far avoided reading the comments about her performance in that thread....) Anyway, I really hope Gracie pulls it together and learns how to skate to her superb level consistently in competition. If she does that, she will pretty much be unstoppable.

Despite all the falls and mistakes, I think that Gracie's new program has potential. In my opinion it'll get better as Gracie usually improves later on in the season. Her dress is also beautiful, though the ivory does blend in too much with the ice.

Agreed! There is such depth and class to her skating. She will prevail. We've seen peeks at her brilliance. Patience on our part and hard work on hers.

I haven't watched her skate (too painful :hopelessness:), but I hope this is a kind of wake-up call to get it together and she comes back with a vengeance at Skate America.

Anyone wanna join the group hug? :ghug:

Count me in on the hug. She is my favorite, but it is so hard to watch her skate sometimes.

She looks 12 on those photographs! Lol

Most young people do look younger without all that makeup!

She will win something big at international stage some day. I still think so.

I think she is struggling mentally. The shadows under her eyes were very telling at the Japan Open. She's done an awful practice for Skate America, and I fear that a bad competition there will leave her even shakier. She seems fragile to me. I empathize with her and worry for her.

I just don't want to give up on her! Sending her hugs and good luck for a good SP tonight!:ghug:

Gracie has a new dress. Very similar to Mariah's East of Eden dress just a gold/nude color. Looks good on her. Jumps look okay, outside of that pogo splat 2a. But I should wait until she skates her run through before commenting more. Fingers crossed for tonight :ghug:

That dress is stunning. Hope she can pull it together for today's FS.

Ohhh Gracie. There is such sadness in your eyes. What will it take for you to believe in yourself? Honestly I think she needs a change of environment. I don't think Frank knows what to do for her. Someone needs to help her get the confidence and the fire to compete. There is a stunning softness to that FS that actually was in tune with her demeanor. But the jumps were not there and when she looked at the audience it was a lost look.

This just broke my heart. http://www.usatoday.com/story/sport...ssues-weight-physical-shape-skating/92618094/

:sad21::no::(

What has made her like this? She seems like she's in a really bad place psychologically right now, and the fact that she thinks she has "weight issues" (how she came to that conclusion, I will never know! I mean, look at her) is incredibly worrying. If this is Frank's doing, so help me, I am going to start a mob.

(Not really, but a metaphorical mob, perhaps.)

Honestly, she should step away from skating for at least the rest of this season. No nationals, no worlds, forget about the Olympics and just spend some time with herself and ask herself if she's still doing this for the right reasons. She has all the spotlights on her yet has not been able to get a single major international medal, so the bricks keep piling. That has got to do some bad things to her mental health.

Competitive skating only lasts a handful of years but can do a lifetime of damage to a skater's health if not handled correctly. If she's in college, take the year off skating and apply for on campus classes, meet new people outside of the skating world and get a new perspective on life. See if anything changes, maybe she finds herself missing skating and will come back with newfound joy.

Completely agree! I hope she did well with the fp today. Didn't see it.

Not good...The person sitting next to me said "This girl breaks my heart", and I think that would pretty much be the concensus of the audience. She's so talented, but...?
