Gracie Gold

I'm back on the forum and ready to fight for Gracie! It's been a long summer.

Glad you are back to cheer for Gracie. I was just looking for some good news on her but it seems there is still all the negative gossip. Do you think she is going to make a come back? I can't watch her go through another last season. I hope she is feeling good and happy above anything else!

I stay out of the general forum threads about Gracie because of the multiple comments about her weight... Or whether she looks 'fit', which is often just an euphemism for 'thin' or 'skinny'. :noshake:

Especially after the recent news about Yulia retiring and the reasons behind that, you'd think that people would think twice before making snarky or invasive comments about skaters' bodies, but nah. :ohwell:

Anyway, here are a couple of nice recent social media posts featuring Gracie:
from Jason's instagram
from a fan account (apparently a screen cap from Ashley's Instagram live)

You are wise, I know I should also. I just don't get why people are so cruel. Thanks for the links, I'm so glad she is friends with the other skaters. Jason seems like the nicest person! Wish I had an ounce of his energy :luv17:

I think they see things they don't like about themselves and try desperately to project those things onto others. It's how they deflect from dealing with their own shortcomings.

I have no opinion on what Gracie should or shouldn't do....she has a team of professionals to help her achieve what's best for her. Let's not forget the deep level of experience she herself has. Maybe she'll come back and maybe she won't...Ill support the girl no matter what. She's given the sport and its fans so much over the years.

I am however hoping for the best for her.

I don't know what she is going to do, but I will support her no matter what. If she wants to keep skating I will cheer her on and be so excited to see her skate at nationals live. She's been training hard no matter what everyone seems to think, so we'll see what state she is in at her first comp.

Good points and I will also cheer for Gracie always!

Oh that's great that you would get to see her live if she competes. I hope she does whatever is best for her. I know I will miss her skating if she decides to stop but I'm not jumping to that conclusion. I hope her team does what is best for her.

Yeah I think jumping to conclusions about her is getting to be too mch. Everyone has an opinion about what she should or shouldn't do but none of us have a front row seat to every moment of her life. We just see snapshots of her performing and competing. Her career is entirely up to her and I will support whatever she decides to do.

People have hounded her for too long. She gets criticized coming and going no matter what she does and I am sick of it.

Gracie's GP events aren't until November, correct? Isn't that typically an eternity away in a figure skating season? A lot can happen between now and November and even between November and U.S. Nationals in January.

It's true. Her training plan could be timing her to peak just in time for the season, she doesn't need to be in too form in August.

Kind of riding off this - if I recalled correctly Yuna Kim had to skip the 2013-2014 GP due to a bone bruise which basically stopped her from doing triples right?
I am just going to go with Gracie and her team know what they are doing and have a plan. Its hard but I don't think its impossible.

Absolutely. Her team are professional's at this not couch critics. Gracie's in good hands, and she seems so happy as of late which is good for her!

Gracie's GP events are China and France which are a little later, but I think she is still scheduled for the Japan Open which is October 7. Although that's just a "fluff" event, it would be great to see her come out and have a great start to the season. Unfortunately, that wasn't the case last year. I'm assuming she's still participating. I haven't heard otherwise.

I wish I could give Gracie a hug. I hope she is okay. I'm sad but it's good to know she is getting help and good for her being so open and courageous. Virtual hugs and kind thoughts to her, always.

Same here :ghug:

I'm sad too, but proud of Gracie that she is getting professional help. Prayers to her and her family. I hope she will come back strong. However, I also hope she realizes that she has already given us so much, and accomplished so much in the skating world. She is still so young, and if she chooses to walk away from skating and do something else with her life, she should have no regrets. Thank you, Gracie and please take care of yourself!

^^^What a wonderful, supportive article from Phil. Getting misty eyed just reading it! Wishing the best for Gracie always.
