Gracie Gold

Yes. She also beat her last SP score by sevenish points.
I’m in shock. I was half expecting to see her not qualify to Nationals and when I looked up the results, I started from the bottom and worked my way upwards. As I got to #3, I started thinking that maybe she pulled out of the event and then when I went to #1, to see her name at the top, was a surprise. At the top and in first place by quite a bit. Wow! She has finally put it together. Now, for tomorrow, I hope she doesn’t run out of steam in the second half of the free skate.

She was holding down the last qualification spot as of today (I’ve not yet looked at the other comp).

Just an observation….. her SP layout is perfect now that she has dropped off the inconsistent 3F with the 3Lo instead. So, short program is fine. But, after reviewing her planned technical layout in the free skate, in the last competition, I noticed she only intended to repeat one jump, 3Lz. She can repeat two triples. If I was her, I’d remove the inconsistent 3F and replace it with a 2nd 3S, a usual reliable triple for Gracie. So, 3Lz-3T, 3Lo (she popped this jump in this free skate, but, it is fine here), 2A, 3S, 3Lz (add a 2T here, if she lands this jump solidly), 3S 2T (replaces 3F and add 2T only if 3Lz is failed), 2A 2T 2T. I know the 3F is worth more points than 3S, but, I’d rather have her go for a more consistent jump here in the second half. Especially, when she is more tired.I would just leave out the 3F, unless, it becomes more consistent. I really do wish Gracie luck and a top 9 finish at Nationals to see her in at least two Challenger events next year. Just my two cents…

^^^^U.S. National Championships are being held in Nashville starting on 1/3/22. I think that is what
Gracie means.

Beautiful photos of Gracie and the podium!
Oh thank you, that seems logic and makes sense :) I went behind in the thread it seems there was actually a show in Nashville, but it was on Sunday, so I didn´t understand much of it.

All though, if next stop is Nationals it means she won´t be going to any other competitions before, and I was kinda hoping there was some last minute competition in Europe she could attend to get the minimums, but it was probably not possible.

Is it impossible for the Federation to have more substitutes after the deadline? They have 3 spots at Golden Spin in December, but now that Bradie WD there is only one substitute. If they would come to the unlikely scenario that there will be 2 withdrawals, is it impossible to fill in the last spot?

I never give up hoping

Gracie 😍😍😍

This is such a good sign she is posting this, I havn´t seen her write anything about her achievements in a long time on social media. She must be very happy and satisfied with where she is now, and she should! It´s so wonderful to see!

So Nashville is next, is that a show coming up?:)

Yes, Scott Hamilton’s show. After that Nationals which are also in Nashville

I don’t know. I’m pretty dang bold and I don’t think even I am bold enough to email Brent and say “Can y’all send Gracie to get her minimums somewhere?

What about emailing to change her layout? 😁 And honestly, I know this is wishful thinking, but if something crazy were to happen and Gracie did need minimums, there are a couple of competitions where she could get them after Nationals.

Reality check re Four Continents deadline:
Four Continents tech minimums must be met *before* Nationals.
The deadline to meet Four Continents minimums is 21 days before the first practice day.
The first practice day for Four Continents is Jan 18.

(BTW, update for @norwegianfairytale: ISU site now shows that Open Belarus Cup is "Postponed.")

I hope she can get the minimums after Nationals. I think there should be some competitions before the deadline of WC. It could be good having them, in case a spot opens. Of course, if she wants to try get them.
