Highest scores ever recorded-Ladies (part II)

So true. Those skating in the final group that even have less then great skates still can get higher PCS marks then those who had great skates but skater in an earlier group. They can even get a higher PCS score then they got from a great skate.
And GOE is just for giving the skaters you like a better score. If you like the skater or they are form a certain country you give them +3. If they are not one of your favs they get a 0 even when the element is outstanding. Just look at the GOE the RUS pairs S/K received for their spin at worlds that was totally out of sink: -.06! A less favorable pair would have received -2s or 3s across the judges.

Good point! Mao got a -1 from one judge for her perfect triple axel at Worlds, but still got the World record SP fortunately.

oooooppppp, so realistically Adelina broke Yuna's LP record because Yuna had the spiral advantage..

LOL  god of skating Adelina

With a mistake too:sarcasm:

and yeah some fans are just unrelenting, hate the judges and not the skater

Mao's 3A's aren't a compensation for anything, especially when they were failing her. To her, no program is complete with out the triple axel. Someone mentioned this in another thread, but for skaters such as Mao and Hanyu its not just about out skating the competition, but also about conquering yourself (Hanyu even has that printed on his training outfit). They'll never stop pushing the limit because they are always striving to beat themselves rather than just others. If they fail, they stand up and keep trying. They are never at a standstill. Its one of the reasons I admire skaters like Mao and Carolina.

THIS!!!!!

And she is one of the most (if not the most) aesthetically pleasing skaters I've ever seen!

I thought Mao's spins were less than stellar in Sochi.
I disagree, though it is all opinion. But to me out of all the ladies she had the most grateful spins - certainly not as flexible as say adelina or Julia, but definitely the most beautiful. This is especially apparent when you compare her to all of the other ladies above the age of 17 or 18: mao may not be as pliable and now has curves, but her spins still look gorgeous and have a natural flow to then in both entry and exit

Great comment To me in comparison to Kostner and Kim, Mao was superior in variety and obviously flexibility in her spins. Her variations on the camel spin with her back lifted and her hand resting against her chest, her I spin and Biellman- I didn't see Kim or Kostner do anything that matched this. I also agree that Mao had a sophisticated elegance and a fluid balletic movement proceeding through her spins that to me is superior to Sotnikova and even Lipnitskaya, who had some more flexibility but whose movement going into, out of and even during the spins lacked the elegance and musicality that Mao had. Her spins also seem to be better centered and not to travel as much, though Kostner's and Kim's seemed well centered as well. in my opinion.

Mao's last spin sequence before the step sequence was truly impressive for me in terms of how well her accelerating speed and intensity was in sync with the swell of the music, which built the dramatic suspense to a climax: illusion, sit extensiion and Biellman. Her last twirl coming out of the Biellman into the step sequence had a real flash and flair, in the hand and arm gestures as well (which I like in all her spins) and was a smooth transition into the release in the stunning step sequence. To me, Mao's spins enticed like the rich, smooth taste of fine wine that you can savor for a long time in Sochi, though her Wow factor from Vancouver diminished to some extent where I think her spins were a bit more impressive and flexible. She has been enduring quite a bit of back pain. She even didn't skate for a while in late December 2013 / early January 2014 to try to recuperate. So, I guess delivering her spins well considering her condition gave them a little bit of warrior appeal. I really felt she had the fierce determination of someone fighting a battle to save their integrity in this Sochi LP and she conveyed that passion in all her skating.

^Lulz at Yuna Kim's frequency of appearances. It's bordering on absurd. She would probably take up the entire list if she competed more.

Come on, who's surprised by that
Rightly so! One (if not the) strongest and most correct jumpers in skating history.
I always found it a bit silly, but there is a reason why they called her "Queen Yuna"

^ Same here. Beside Kim's flying-like-jumps, I also want to root for her interpretation and hard work overall. I'm so new here and getting found out this forum mostly belongs to a certain skater's fan beside Kim. I don't think it is a good idea that I leave my comments outside of Kim's fan fest although I'm also fond of Akiko and So Yeon Park. Every time I read some weird conments here such as the thing you mentioned (cough) I feel like some people really wash away someone.

lol I'm amused that some people would think their favorite skaters rightfully deserved their pcs and goe, whereas the skaters they dislike got it for their name...:sarcasm:

I don't see Yuna's performance on the list after 2010 anyway, (except 2013 worlds fs) so a big lol at the comment above. And, yeah I'd say Yuna deserves her goe scores-I'm not saying she tops in everything but I think the quality of her jumps deserves its score.

Yunas frequency in GOE isn't absurd at all, it's not much different from Hanyus and Chans in the mens comp, or Maos for BV. It's very deserved, but it has nothing to do with absurd.
GOE is a little tricky though, with the changes in the scoring system between the last 2 Olympics. I'm not sure it's possible anymore to top Yunas 2010 Oly LP GOE  Also, GOE vary so much between big and smaller events (like Oly Inflatation), maybe even more than PCS do. But overall, Yuna leads, as she should.
So Mao leads in BV, Yuna in GOE, and Caro in PCS!

Fun facts: PChan lead in PCS and GOE. Yuzuru only has one time GOE in the top 10 while PChan has 6 times, despite the fact that Yuzuru has bigger jumps. :p

And Yuzu easily beats him in BV. I didn't mean GOE specifically, but the fact that one skater dominating in a certain cetagory is not absurd, but more like the norm :)

Edit: And you're just taking the LP into consideration here. Yuzuru has the 2 highest entrys in SP GOE :p
