Holiday Prep and celebrations

Happy New Year to everyone! πŸŽ†πŸŽ‡:ghug:
Happy new year to you and to everybody!!!! πŸŽ‡πŸŽ‡πŸŽ‡πŸŽ‡πŸŽ†πŸŽ†πŸŽ†πŸŽ† May this 2025 brings you Success, Prosperity, Health and all yours dreams come true!!!!

New year eve was in house i decided no go to Vina del Mar for watch the fireworks spectacle (2/1 is a work day here) and stay in house and got my siblings visits and Thursday back to Stress work but was relaxed really and this Sunday a meeting with 2 friends mine ,was amazing and a nice surprise as birthday present (my birthday was 12/29) and is great..

It's late, but - I want to wish everyone a peaceful 2025.
I'm kind of "over" bombastic plans, big expectations and pressure put to make another year "best ever", so I want to wish you a healthy sense or ordinary, a normalcy to get you wherever you want to go :)
LOTS of health to everyone!!!

(I was not in the best place mentally before, during and after Christmas, hence not wishing Merry Christmas, but I hope everyone who celebrated had good time!)

Maybe this doesn't count as a holiday to the rest of the world, but once national championships, Europeans/Four Continents, and Worlds are on the horizon, I put up this wreath on the indoors side of my balcony door. Figure skating season!

Edit: It doesn't seem to like the picture of the full wreath. I'll see what happens if I post this much, and maybe the other photo will show up.

OK, trying again with the full picture of my skating wreath.

Nope. I'll take another picture tomorrow with better light. It's so pretty and it's a shame not to show it off to those who might appreciate it :scratch2::shrug:

The image might be too big. Try "printing" it to a pdf file and see if you can post the PDF. Or you could try uploading it to imgur and posting a link. Imgur is anonymous; you don't need an account or to reveal your identity (even a fake one).

:scratch2:You overestimate the extent of my technological abilities :)! The picture was the same size as the close-up one, and it loaded apparently without problems the several times I tried. But then each time it just faded and vanished, with no error messages. I don't use a cell phone to photograph, just an old "real" camera with a card in it that I then take out and stick into my laptop.

Today (February 1st) is Imbolic
marking the halfway point between the Winter & Spring solstices… not long now!🌷
Time to reflect, declutter, relax
Enjoy good company

And for the Jewish posters here, we are now in the Hebrew month of Adar, during which the festive holiday of Purim occurs (beginning Thursday evening, March 13 through Friday evening March 14 @ sundown). On Purim we read the Megilat Esther (Scroll of Esther) which recounts the time when the Jews of Shushan, Persia were spared from being killed by the evil man Haman (the foolish king's adviser @ the time). Queen Esther revealed her Jewish identity to the king, and Haman was hanged. He was replaced by Queen Esther's relative Mordecai. We eat special three cornered fruit filled pastries called "Hamantaschen" (to resemble Haman's three cornered hat. In Israel, they are called Oznei Haman - Haman's ears). People get dressed up in costumes, have parties, carnivals during Adar, and we send food gifts (Mishlo-ach manot) to family, friends, and the poor. During the reading of the Megillah (scroll), we use groggers (noisemakers) to drown out Haman's name whenever it is mentioned in the narrative. We cheer for Esther & Mordecai. In addition to the reading of the Megillah on Purim evening, many synagogues put on a Purim "Shpiel" (a play) telling the story of Purim, usually with some parody songs. I participate in the chorus every year when our synagogue puts on a Shpiel, which we are currently rehearsing.

Exactly four weeks after the observance of Purim comes Passover!

Hamantaschen are delicious! I've tasted chocolate filled ones - yum! Other than the chocolate filling, my favorites are cherry & apricot (most people use fruit filling for them).

My neighbor in NH (before moving to CT) was a Polish baker… she used to gift me a plate of pastries on occasion, these included; they are scrumptious!
