How to get back on the ice quickly?

Hi all! I was going to test my novice MITF in June, but I caught walking pneumonia and flew out of the country so I haven't skated in over a month. I have my first freestyle session today and I have a few questions. What are some exercises I can do to get me more comfortable on the ice again? How long will it take for me to pick up the skills I had before I took the break? How many times a week should I practice?

Thanks a lot!

Unfortunately my coach isn't available during the summer, but I wanted to get a few practices in before she returns in the fall
If your coach isn't there to keep an eye on you, and you're only going to skate a few times, I'd just use the time to relax, enjoy getting out of the summer heat, and get the feel of the ice again. Basic stroking, slaloms, edges. Nothing ambitious, just getting that feeling of being at home on the ice again. You'll be ready to pick up the moves for your test again when you're back with your coach, and she won't have to go back and correct any bad habits you might have picked up trying to relearn on your own. Good luck and enjoy the ice!
