I was thinking of this, while watching Ice Wars and Kristi's show in recent weekends. Some of the pros, NOW, would have such CoP friendly programs! Of course, it would have to be adjusted for the downgraded jump content. But I was thinking, wow, Ilia Kulik could just run away with things in terms of PCS. He's always had great position and extension, he's got great choreography, footwork, transitions, unique/interesting moves, musical interpretation. He would maybe get dinged a bit on spins, but there is so much other content in his programs. I was thinking similarly of Nicole Bobek's "Lola" program, and Kristi's "Belleville" one. Yagudin as well, I think, could really have worked this system to his advantage. Eldredge, who I like, I think would have to have more choreography and transitions, and although he has the some of the best centered and fast spins, they do not have many changes of position or edge.

Hmmm, just thinking on it some more, and thought I would spew my brain here! ;)

I think Kurt would also benefit from this system... especially at the 94 Olympics... I bet he could have made that podium with the redeeming LP ;)

Both Russians, Yagudin and Kulik, would have done really well with COP, first of all because they have outstanding skating skills. Kulik would definitely get dinged on spins, but it's not like spins are worth that much and he would compensate in other areas for sure. Tarasova would most certainly come up with very COP friendly programs to Yagudin. And his PCS would be huge too, I see the judges marking him very high in performance, interpretation and choreography.

Kurt would benifit tremendously with COP. Looks as though it was made with him in mind.

I agree. Although I was thinking more in terms, if there were REAL Pro competitions, and they used an altered version of CoP, who right now, in where they're at in their pro career, would fare best with it.

Why do that? I like pro skating because they don't have a million rules and can be creative. If I want to watch CoP, I watch the ISU skating. I don't see why we need both competing under CoP. The pros have been there done that. I think there is a place for both types of skating, and I appreciate both types.

I think that they do judge much like the CoP does already, just with the 6.0 system... just because a skater pops a jump or falls doesn't mean they don't still get a lot of good scores... it's about the entire program (at least for the artistic)...

but I think the ones that would benefit most are already in the thread... for ladies... Yuka would definately do well, as would, I think, Josee Chouinard... she wouldn't have to worry too much about the jumps
