Hi! I know I'm late on commenting on Skate Canada, but I got waaay behind on skating and have been catching up. Well, Ilia set a new world record. You could have knocked me over with a feather :dbana:. I knew of course that he had it in him, but I think I tricked myself into thinking that something like that would only happen on a big stage, like Worlds or Olympics. Canada is lucky. Ilia set both of his WR in that country 🤭. He also kind of snuck up on me with the 6 quads so I forgot to freak. I was just so happy with the beautiful 4L, and all the rest just left my jaw on the floor. Could you believe the landing on the 4Lz, where he did a choreographed landing similar to what others do with a 2A? I'm so glad to be a skating fan right now!

I have been hearing crazy things about what Ilia is doing at GPF practice and what he might do in competition. He's insane, I love it, and I can't wait to cheer him on!!
 
Here is wishing Ilia to regroup and have a strong free skate. I didn't know he was going to try a new combo, cool that he is testing his limits.
 
Hope you are right @lariko but it's not impossible for Yuma(and I don't dislike Yuma), to beat him now and down the line. Just hope he doesn't injure himself.

Ilia is a human after all. This was his first big mistake in a year (?).... and it was just one mistake. The rest was great. He has so many options for his free skate. He can still win even if he is in bad shape on saturday. Maybe not with 70 points ahead this time but 10 would be enough.
