ISU Figure skating Awards

If I am not mistaken, the guy who came up with the idea of these awards in the first place and Ilia's agent are the same person. Maybe for him, being on social media is indeed what makes a skater valuable 🤷‍♂️

Actually, we started doing the Golden Skate Accolades in 2019. We posted on social media, etc.

Several months later, the ISU took the idea and did their own. We haven't done any since except for 2020 because it was both time-consuming and kind of redundant.

I expect it's a lot of trouble to put together but it would be interesting to see a Golden Skate "contest" with various categories now that the season is over. As long as it was just voting without discussion. I'm not particularly interested in why someone chooses Susie Skategirl over Molly Mopthefloor as the best entertainer of the year. Many of us have favorites that we would support but it doesn't necessarily mean they were the best entertainer.................

Were they in fact the Knierims, whom I also love? Or Alexa and Brandon, equally loveable?

Let me know when you watch which it was :)
It was definitely Alexa and Brandon. I consulted the pictures (link posted in a separate thread). I just looked through the thumbnails for a pair that included a blonde woman, then clicked on the images. You can verify by doing the same.

in my book Knierims = Alexa + whatever guy she's skating with

let's keep it real, she's always been the star of the show, no matter which man is failing the side by sides!

therefore the lovely @Carol1 is correct

So can you answer my question, without referring to “your book”?

Alexa and Brandon? Or Alexa and Chris?

I feel like you're taking this all too seriously, my dear.

alexa is a rockstar and I don't care which man she's skating with tbh

god bless the ISU Awards and Knierims supremacy!!!

Don't involve me further in this. I stopped taking my Prevagen for the week in response to seeing Ilia's outfit, and without my good glasses I can't tell the difference between a Knierim and a member of the Partridge family. Or Dodds family. Even if it was written on the screen in American, I might not be able to decipher it.

I am very happy that Deanna (if I have this right?) was honored, though.

Bad things:
That Australian woman presenting - don't like her and sorry but who IS she? Come back Tanith Belbin!
I started watching, and as soon as I saw her, I thought, "that's not an Australian accent". In fact, I wondered if I had misread Austrian as Australian. Then I decided she didn't really sound Austrian. Eventually they said her name, Elma Smit. I googled her, and she is ... South African. I should have recognized the accent as not Australia, but close, definitely not New Zealand, but close, ah yes, another former British colony.

A common error, more people having heard Australians. One of my sisters-in-law is from South Africa. She's been in Canada a long time now and has very little of her original accent left, but she says she was always mistaken for an Australian when she first arrived. The accents have some similarities, colonial accents tending to depend on the home countries of their majority early immigrants. (Generally, England for SA and Australia, but Scotland for Canada and New Zealand.) When my SIL started dating my brother, she said he introduced her to people as thisisDianashe'sfromSouthAfrica, just to get that out of the way. :)
