The skaters passed the screening are:
Adelia Petrosian (RUS), Alina Gorbacheva (RUS), Petr Gummenik (RUS) and Vladislav Dikidzhi (RUS), Viktoriya Plaskonnaya/Vasil Barakhouski (BLR), Yauheni Puzanau (BLR), Viktoriia Safonova (BLR), Nastassia Sidarenka (BLR) and Uladzislau Sytsik (BLR).

No pairs or ice dance couples representing Russia being cleared. In Belarus, the reigning national champions in ice dance did not pass.

The document says this list is final and not subject to appeal. So, if my understanding is correct, the Olympic qualifying event will have one Russian woman and one Russian man. And that's all.

My knowledge of Russian skating is, at this point, minimal, but it dwarfs my knowledge of Belarussian skating, but I think they may also be limited to one man and one woman.

We'll see if that's the case. Maybe @AlexBreeze can clear that up for me.

Not sure what you mean. Besides the singles, Belarus has one ice dance couple being allowed. Though, their national champions weren't. It's sad because they are a strong couple and had a slight chance to make the cut in Beijing.

Thank you, you answered exactly what I was asking. One man and one woman at the qualifying event from Russia. One man, one woman, and one dance team from Belarus.

It seemed like it was subject to appeal. I have to read original communication again. Something was definitely subject to appeal. Maybe the doping part?

Nope the original isu communication clearly says it is subject to appeal based on article 26 and now they say it’s not.

In your opinion, much more educated than mine, do any of the Belarussian skaters have a realistic chance at the qualifying event?

Safonova is an extremely consistent skater. She easily made the cut at Nebelhorn last time: became 3rd with a score of 190.29. So far she is probably even better then before, she even started landing the 4Lo in training. Though she had an injury this season but she was good at nationals after it. The problem is that the field is going to be very deep comparing to last time: Petrosian, Gubanova, Hendrickx, a chinese skater. And the scores for AINs are unpredictable. I'd still rate her chances as fairly high though.

Puzanau is a solid skater. He has good jumps. I would put him somewhere near Litvintsev when clean. Unfortunately he is extremely inconsistent and always pops everything including triples when he's nervous. Men's field will be noticeably less deep comparing to women's so he has a chance but I wouldn't say it's too big.

Ice dance - no chance. Andreeva/Blinov would have a chance if were allowed but not this couple.

It's a lot of months until Olympics still, and she has to qualify in China first. Hope she'll manage to avoid injuries, and if she comes to games with a strong content, then gold is definitely possible.

If this holds up, then the pairs and ice dance fields competing at the Olympic Qualifying Event have a much greater chance of making it to the Olympics.

Not saying this is good. Not saying this is bad. But it's a fact. And a possibility I had not considered previously.

I'd like to see Adelia win. She's proven to the be the clear best in the world over the past two seasons. In 2022/23 she had an injury that she was coming back from at the Russian championships so didn't give her best, but was back on form in the GP final and won easily. In effect the clear best in the world for THREE seasons.

To win Olympic gold would cap an incredible career where she has been undefeated for two years in the toughest competition in the world.

It's too bad that there will be an asterisk hanging over the pairs event (imo just my opinion is all).

So they are complete scare of pairs ... because I get why Galimov didn't pass ... he was pro war .. but Bobrova/Dimitri kept a very low profile on the matter ...they need to give japan a medal in pairs ... that's the only reason I see

Boykova/Kozlovskiy probably didn't pass the scrutiny thanks to the same show that had also potentially tanked Semenenko's chances vs Dikidzhi. Not sure why they didn't try Khabibulina/Knyazhuk since they are about as low profile as Gorbacheva and Dikidzhi. But, yeah, no pair makes this Olympic stint suck even worse than it did already.

IMO, the ISU were deliberately vague and unhelpful leaving the Russian fed to effectively take the the gamble that M/G would be fine. This is really unfair and reflects poorly on the ISU to play this petty game of 'gotcha'. This was not a process that was conducted in good faith by the ISU.

Once again, they have failed in their duties and obligations as custodians of this sport. They make a mockery of the Olympic values.

Wasn't just M/G. Whoever was the sub didn't make it either. And neither did Stepanova/Bukin and whoever was their sub. Eh, too bad Chikmareva had growing pains... It is what it is. This Olympics is going to be even worse than the previous one for FS.

Really sad that M/G won't be going, they are in my opinion the best in the world, not sure why they didn't qualify? Not surprised at Stepanova and Bukin, I thought the fed picking them was a bad choice.

I am happy for Adelia and Petr, I hope they do well and aren't forced to withdraw in solidarity.

M/G not going has bummed me out though, not looking forward to the Olympics quite so much now
