Jackie Wong gives his top twelve 2023-24 team USA performances

I liked the shoutout to the dueling Toscas of Maxim N. and Camden. :)

And of course I love this sentiment from Jackie about Jason's Worlds SP:

Every time I watch Brown skate, I thank my lucky stars that I get to see him one more time in competition.

So true:love2:

This is an excellent and memorable listing. I love that Jackie mentions Olivia Flores/ Luke Wang's stellar achievements in junior pairs. As well, IMO, Olivia's older sister, ice dancer, Isabella Flores and her partner, Ivan Desyatov, at least deserve an Honorable Mention for their exciting performance in the FD at U.S. Nationals, which placed them 6th in that portion, and 7th overall, after a 9th place in the RD. With their 7th place finish at 2024 U.S. Nationals, Isabella/ Ivan improved 3 placements from their overall 10th place finish at 2023 U.S. Nationals.

Just as Flores/Wang are one of the most promising young junior pairs teams worldwide, Flores/ Desyatov are fr one of the most talented and exciting young ice dance teams on the rise, not only domestically, but internationally, too! Expect some fireworks from Flo/Des in the coming season. 🧨 🎆

I would add Andrew Torgashev’s short program, which was spectacular. May he build on that success next season!
Good call!

Agreed!

I agree in particular on Carreira/Ponomarenko. Until this year for me they were one of those skip-them teams that get the scores who knows why, but this year they were actually good.

I also agree that Torgashev deserved a mention for his SP in GP. It was remarkable.

I am very pleased to see Carriers & Ponomarenko finally get the respect they deserve.
Very much due to the hard work and tremendous progress Car/Pon have achieved under the wise, creative mentorship and guidance of Scott Moir and Madi Hubbell! (I have seen on IG that even Tessa Virtue has offered some welcome coaching input). Especially so for Christina, who has blossomed beautifully! 🌸 🥰 Christina very visibly exudes more confidence and surety.

People have mentioned that when Anthony was recovering from his surgery and Christina was practicing during that time. that Scott Moir worked a lot with her, and that is one of the things that really helped them. I've also heard people say, as you did, that Madison Hubbell's influence id as a factor as well, particularly for Christina. I agree, and I'm happy for them. I've always liked this team but was worried, especially with the rise of Green / Parsons, that they would get overshadowed. It's great to see them succeeding. I like so many of the US dance teams these days. My ideal Nats podium would be very crowded. LOL
